Both sound good 👍 wonder how much cheaper the valeton is?

There is really too much reverb going on to really hear the tone.

My first impression though, was I think the Fractal was less compressed.

I mean they sound nearly the same, and like something I could get out of an Eventide 4000DSP or later with no amp at all. Basically a reverb with some modulation, and an EQ.

I'm not sure if this is an advertisement, a warning, or what.

If your goal is for playbacks of YouTube clips to sound great just about any modeler will do. If your goal is to sound great live pumping through a 1000w PA there are fewer options. Every person who has ever tackled modeling live has had that rude awakening when the presets they dialed in at home sound like molten ass in a club. Even the old L6 PODS sounded great when played quietly.

I just got one of these GP-5's as part of a package deal with the Cioks DC7/8. These also run NAM files (amp profiles, supposedly/apparently the highest quality version of them), which I've had zero interest in as I've already got the ToneX software and the capture thing is cool but definitely not how I want to source my tones.

The NAM software is free and I've already got a load box/interface, when I get the motivation I'll make some of my own profiles and load them onto it. I was going to grab a ToneX One for this purpose, but I can send this back home to New England for when I head up on vacations and want to jam with my buddies, since I'm always at the mercy of whatever a guitar can plug into when I'm up there.

As for the clip; I would hope any modeling unit in 2025 would be able to cross more than one path with one of the bigger units.

I can hardly tell a difference. I'll wait for Joyo to make one so I can have a cheaper Chinese copy of a cheap Chinese product!
In all seriousness, it's very cool what we have for recording alternatives at our disposal today.

I have played with NAM, but have just resonated with ToneX more. Sometimes I think about spending more time with NAM, but I only got so much time to focus on a system, lol. NAM is still very geeky to get into, and requires quite a bit of DAW stuff to make it work to make captures. I have been able to easily create ToneX captures of my amps, which sound and feel great. I can use them in my DAW, or send them to my ToneX One for playing through real cabs. I just haven't had a reason to look at NAM more.
