Always great tones and style...

Mod 5 or M5
Specs: Marshall 2203/2204, with 12000 spec low filtering, with a LAr/Mar PPIMV added, the 220k resistor after the pre-PI MV, and only a couple of other component changes like a 100pF cap instead of a 470-500pF cap at the 470K/470K voltage divider, a 25µF/25V across the 820 ohms cathode R of V2a, and .1 coupling caps instead of .022's after the PI plates.

Problem being that if you don't want to butcher up a stock amp and have it possibly lose value, this prob is not the mod for you... I don't really want to molest my JCM but i do dig the sound!

One thing to keep in mind is that first off, for me, an amp is meant to be played. And that's what I do, make an amp that is meant to be played.

On the other hand all of my mods are fully reversible with respect to never diminishing the value of the amp.

Thirdly you won't want to reverse it and last but certainly not least you won't care about its resale value because you 'll be too busy smiling playing the damn thing....unless, of course that sound just isn't for you.

But with all due respect to each their own!

Probably true! You do get very consistent results. I really think the filtering has a lot to do with it. Takes the stiffness out of an amp. Would you agree with this?

sounds killer man. i am totally impressed, and for the first time ever am contemplating getting something like this done

Well said...the "resale value" crowd should go buy CDs :jerkit: (investment grade pieces being the exception)

JCM's are made for hacking......they are a dime a dozen.
indeed! I remember when I first started some 7-8 years ago no wanted those amps. "Metal faces aren't as good as Plexi' I found out for myself they can be made to sound just as good as a Plexi!

They are great amps to breath tone into!

not really. Depends on the amp. The 50watt you are hearing is all dual 50u caps for example.
That's 50u in the preamp that most cork sniffers would argue about not being the right value.
That's double the filtering on the mains that most would want.
50 on the screens? Again "they" would argue "no man you want 16u on the screens"... Blah blah... You gotta try it out for yourself and let you ears, fingers and the amp tell you.

I don't know crap about component values and all that; all I know is Rockstah's amps have the most Brown/EVH sound of any amp I've heard yet.
