What is going on with the industry???

I think that guitar is bad ass and I want to get one. But maybe in the Tobacco Sunburst. The price is high but not as high as some brands I have seen. In America, people are going to charge as much as they think they can get. That is life. I have way too many guitars now. But mainly that is because I stopped selling and kept buying. To each his own. I think these look great and the pick up switching on them is a great idea too (not a new idea). I have owned many Suhrs and they have all been very nice and fun. I like cheap guitars too sometimes. There is no set way. If you think this is high, look at the Fender Custom Shop relics that they want 10k for!

The problem isn't a particular company in my opinion. It is the b.s. with the extras. They try to sell you on all of the other crap like plek'd, an included strap, horsehair handle, cream inlayed dick protector, etc. Just give me the damn guitar in duct taped donut boxes and lower the price.

This again? CA law restricts using made in USA if there are non US components. If you're not aware, amp components are pretty much not made in the USA (resistors, capacitors, pots, tubes, etc) therefore if you're selling an amp in California you can't use made in usa on it. Same thing applies to guitars since most hardware and wood is imported from overseas or from Canada.
I was about to post this. Thank you.

Trust me, I’ve been in John’s office, they make shit in California!

I’m one of the guys that bought the OSO.

Believe me, I did not pay four grand, though I enjoy discounts from time to time.

What I truly don’t understand is people that look at the price online and do not at least negotiate. My Sweetwater guy offered a very nice discount, however, I got it for less $ than even he offered.

Here it is in action.

I’m not independently wealthy, I work for a living. I don’t buy very many guitars new. I do not regret the purchase.

I believe that SUHR makes the best guitar on the market that is from a large builder. These guys kill it.
Also, John has Kevin in the rafters who is killing it as well. This brand has longevity.
Both of these guys are fantastic, as well as Justin over there.

Edited to say, yes, I agree that the guitar is expensive. Negotiate negotiate negotiate or wait for Used.

It seems to me like price increases in big ticket items have been larger even by percentage than can be explained by either inflation or tariffs. Super thankful that I am not purchasing a house, car or even any guitars or amps right now.

I bought my first Suhr this past fall...the Ian Thornley JM. It's a wonderful guitar....but I'm not sure it's miles better than my Shijie STE custom pro. Maybe it's because I sound like sh*t no matter what I play? Nah...it's the guitars fault!

Who is paying these prices for this???? This is absurd!!! Where is the value or justification for this price??? View attachment 432948

I work in tech and this is 100% NOT the case in the slightest.

I've worked with plenty of folks with no degree (or a history or art degree) who learned to code outside of school, then they built actual shit that made an impact on the world, THEN got hired by big tech.

I can promise you the girls that do roam these halls are not the ones getting hired for their looks.

One need only look at Felon Musk and his "policies" to know what's going on.

If you can hire people with no degree or background, why aren't they hiring people with actual skills at the same salaries? What do they even ask them in the interviews, which are notorious for being multi-stage?

Never really liked Teles either, FWIW. Closest would be a Kiesel Allan Holdsworth model; I designed many in their Builder but never purchased one.

I like the EBMM Kaizen 6; still my favorite all around guitar; though my EBMM Majesty guitars are more versatile, but I don't always need all the features. My fav hardtail, HH guitar are my Ibanez PS 10; and for thrash/hair metal, I like my Jackson X series Rhoads and Warriors.

I still want a Kiesel AH, but not enough to buy one yet...I'd rather get another Majesty, not that I need another one.

Was I livin in the golden age? I remember walking into tons of high end stores( w/ 1600-1800 to blow on a high end axe) circa 87'- 95 and gawking at the custom shop jacksons, charvels,Strats, pauls,& hamers in the "do not touch" section.
Most of those were in the 2500 range and just out of reach for most of us.Not much Suhr back then. So is 4500 the old 2500?

I'd say there are always good deals to be had, but there tend to be a lot of people who are scouting for the same thing and it just depends on who is a more successful negotiator or recognises that the equipment is being offered at a good value.

Also in the past 5-7 years, all the quick easy financing options that are now available like Afrim, and AMS, zero percent easy pay system. This helps drive up cost because it allows more high-ticket price items to sell. The auto/truck industry went the same way when 7-12 year loans started to become common place.
