Depends if the range goes from 'first strum in GC' to 'better than Vai' LOL

I think I'm a average to good rock/metal player and pretty good at thrash when I've been playing that stuff for a while - I'm not a shredder but I have aspirations in that direction at times, in which case I'm waaaay below average in those circles.

How bout everyone gets graded on "their" english ?

FWIW seeing how most music today is anything but "rock" and of what "rock" there is it has no lead break its not too difficult to play anything.

Thats why NWA & MaDonna are in the RRHOF.

Sorry but NWA rocked out pretty hard and dre used the turntables for leads.

just sayin'
Subjective. For Christ sake ABBA is in the RRHOF.

So does that mean Hendrix & Chuck Berry are going to be in the Hip Hop HOF ?[/quote

ABBA were rad songwriters, and those girls had great voices, especially while harmonizing. I really dig some of their songs.

love this song!

Chicks man ... ;)

I used to be average.

Now I suck.

At least I am pretty good at sucking, ask mailman.

How bout who do you think is the best player on RT. My vote for some of the tastiest off the cuff licks is the guy that has the 200 watt Marshall Major on here. Very interesting and skillfully chops. And that Marshall!! He gets my vote!

I'm similar- mostly a rhythm player rather than lead. And yeah James Hetfield was a big influence with that.

I selected "Average" - it was the closest fit.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: "I'm a half-assed rhythm guitar player in a generic cover band located in the middle of a Midwest cornfield".

:D

I'm definitely below average or average. I'm lazy and don't practice much. My band is a punk/hardcore band so it's not super challenging and we have no lead guitar parts.

i'm so jealous..........

Good enough that I still enjoy it and keep playing.

I am good enough to convince myself that I am mediocre and good enough to convince all others that I am mediocre too! That takes a lot of talent to convince so many of such a thing!! I can play better than most anybody so long as I am fully warmed up for like 3 days straight and they have oven mitts on each hand, no pick, no warming up and are blindfolded playing left handed (if they are right handed). Seriously...I am that good. Don't hate!

Well I'm good enough to fool my friends into thinking i'm good. But I consider my playing shit since I still can't nail the Cemetery Gates solo.

I can play well at home, at Guitar Center or whatever other music store, and the rare occasion I play with a band, but I cannot record worth shit. I hear every nuance and it totally fucks me up to the point where I have difficulty playing things that are normally effortless. If I could just find a way around that, I think I'd be in the above average range.

To me average is the ability to play most rhythms and some not too challenging solos. Above average would be able to play most solos, and some difficult solos. Advanced are the people who are fluent in theory and ability. Expert are the people who can do and know many of the things intermediate and advanced players want.

You forgot "gifted." The gifted class are those players who either have just God-given talent that no amount of practice can achieve, or people who are so determined and passionate that they are able to reach a similar level.

Of the clips I've heard, over the years I would say: Psychodave, Chubtone, Killertone, Ampaddict, RichardT, Mosh, Danyeo, Nick(dawn of dream), Superunknown, Gainfreak...those guys can really rip with the best of them and then some. Way beyond my pay grade. Not to take away from anyone else, those are clips I've remembered. And probably the tip of the iceberg.
