Bands you like, but have no desire to play their music on guitar

Soundgarden, I am a huge fan and think "Super Unknown" is a classic but they use so many weird tunings all the time , I don't bother learning much of it. (outshined, spoon man are simple Drop D) so I learned those but that's about it LOL
having Floyds on all of my guitars makes this a tedious endeavor
It's strange that I'm same wrt Soundgarden but I like(d) learning and playing STP (rhythms mostly). The tuning is def part of it.

i'm in that same boat. when it comes to other peoples songs that i know, its just stuff i picked up on accident, comming up, so to speak. i was a super fan of some bands, and i can play almost all of their songs from half looking at tabs, and half just knowing the songs in my bones from hearing them for decades. I can play any metallica song, or song that they covered from 82-99 because i was a SUPER FAN in high school of metallica, and tape traded them (so i listened to hundred of their live shows), and knew all the little accents they did live that aren't on records. I learned alot of stuff when i was young (instead of...you know doing my homework, or studying), like slayer, anthrax, motorhead, etc...but as an adult, my ego and i agrue over "should i try to write" or should i just play covers for fun, because no one really cares about old guys playing metal!?!?!
I’ll say this… I learned to play by spinning vinyl and picking out the progressions and licks. Then after I got good enough I got in a band and played cover tunes in bars/weddings etc. I was young and it was a shit ton of fun.
After I moved on from that and started writing and working in an original band I lost all desire to play other bands tunes. I think this is pretty common actually.

Maybe i'm a complete weirdo. I have never had a desire to play anyone else's songs ever. I've always written in a style similar to the bands i listen to but i have never wanted to play any of the songs i listen to.
Same, I learnt a lot of covers in high school but the more I wrote my own, the less I learnt others.. I sometimes play other riffs when I discover them by accident just noodling around

Me three. I like finding out how people play songs, but I have no desire to play them myself.

All of them. Doesn't mean I don't know any, but I spend as little time as possible playing other people's stuff.

Good topic, I used to learn a lot of tunes, but stopped a long time ago. But thinking back, I don’t really know why but I never learned or ever even tried to learn any of these bands songs but love these hair bands:
Ratt
Twisted Sister
Dio
Motley Crue

Strange…

I’m sure there’s herds if I search the inner guilty
pleasures landscapes..
Now I do have a unforgettable fire of desire
to play like this dude, but to be honest,
He’s a bit out of my reach.
But that’s why I listen to his music, incredibly spacious while plenty busy wihile sitting back on the grooves, complex moving clever riffs but sound very simple , RAD use of effects.
Kevin Parker, Tame Impala

I tend to figure out music when listening to it. Driving in a car or cooking in the kitchen.
Obviously I check it on the guitar. But have been doing it this way so many years it isn't necessary usually.
Developing relative pitch and perfect pitch needs to be done before you can attempt this.
Any song I hear on TV commercials or anywhere else I can usually hear the chord progression.
I was taught how to do this when I was ten. I have been doing it daily since then.
