^^^Absolutely....forgot about a few of those, although a couple I'm not familiar with. Yeah, before I was a member here I started getting GAS for modded Marshalls and RT was a great source for opinions/clips. 5 yrs and 20K later....lol!

At the level where I have my own style. Years of figuring out, copying, practicing eventually evolve into something only you own. Skill level? average. Playing a long time. Some stuff i do well, some stuff I can't do at all.

I want to know who the experts are!

There used to be a ton that posted here...give me a few, and I'll see of I can come up with some examples...
Of the clips I've heard, over the years I would say: Psychodave, Chubtone, Killertone, Ampaddict, RichardT, Mosh, Danyeo, Nick(dawn of dream), Superunknown, Gainfreak...those guys can really rip with the best of them and then some. Way beyond my pay grade. Not to take away from anyone else, those are clips I've remembered. And probably the tip of the iceberg.

All true.

Add Alex Flouros, Andy Wood, '63 Strat, Kage, Darren Stroud, Dan Gower, shit, there were a ton more, too.

-whoa!!!

-you guys are going way back!!

-how about Carl?

Carl's a really good player, as well.

We have a bunch of them, that still post, too.

I don't think we get as many clips these days, because not many people bother responding.

Thanks! I'm here under this name. I'm older than you guys, so I'm more a 70's style player. Still post clips, but mostly short pedal demos

stradazone is prob my fave. Seems he could play anything and nail it.

I used to be average.

Now I suck.

At least I am pretty good at sucking, ask mailman.

i'm so jealous..........
Fellas....Fellas....please.
There is plenty of me to go around.
Just call to make an appointment.

Oh I and I would label myself a hack. I can get by playing songs but have no idea what the hell I am playing as far as scale or chord progressions....etc.
Just wing it.

I'm a decent player. Much better when I'm warmed up and remember how what to play...

I AM THE GREATEST GUITAR PLAYER ......... in my house, I'm ok with that

Depending on who stops by, I can't even claim that with any certainty.

Al Estrada might be stopping by this week, which will certainly demote me from my lofty throne...

I was looking for the "Advance Hack" option, but settled for advanced...although that may be a stretch now, too!

-some of the guys here are too modest, I know at least 4 guys that never post clips, but are very good guitarist,

-here's something we all have in common, we're all our own worst critic's.

You guys are humble. It's hard to rate yourself vs. most guitarists rather than rigtalk guitarists. We have a bit of a niche. I'm a novice here, but am "amazing" to people who have no idea! LOL
I voted "above average". But not because I see myself as a great, or even good guitarist. I voted based on the level of all people who stake a claim at knowing how to play the guitar. I pictured the "average" guitarist as thus being one who has nailed all the "cowboy" chords, understands song structure, and can pretty well knock out any song they want to sing around the campfire.

I would guess the percentage of acoustic players to electric players is quite high (i.e., those of us that have played, or are playing, in bands make up a rather small percentage of people who can play the guitar).

If I was to have voted based on my level as part of the RT population, my vote would have been lower.

Hope that made sense.

I'm good enough that you can tell which song I'm playing wrong. So in this group that's probably average. In my group of friends I'm like Jimmy Page. Truth is somewhere in the middle.

In retrospect there have been plenty of dudes making it big with my skills.

Good point. And conversely, a ton of dudes with massive guitar skills that never really went anywhere or are playing in venues 1/10th the size of what they 'should' be. Most people just don't know or care about such things.

I have zero confidence that I could knock put any song someone wants to song around a campfire.

If we're being brutally honest, the "average" guitar player out there is probably not very good.

I'd agree that a good majority of people posting here are probably a good step above a truly "average" player.
