Which band has the longest "Awesome albums in a row" streak?

The Police only put out 5 studio albums but I think they were all great. Also they did these 5 albums in a span of about 5 years I believe. I still enjoy listening to the music they created.

Nobody beats the setlist that could be created from this consecutive run of albums. This 7 year in a row output of albums '74-'81 destroys all

They influenced almost every band except Zeppelin in this thread & are responsible for countless people learning drums/bass/guitar & writing songs outside of the normal structures, lengths & time signatures!

I would also mention Signals, Grace Under Pressure, Power Windows, Hold Your Fire, Presto, Roll The Bones, Counterparts, Test For Echo, Vapor Trails, Snakes & Arrows, Feedback & Clockwork Angels..........But then you might think I'm a fanboy!!! lol

I would say a bunch of bands can make that list. However, somebody's great album is someone else disaster

Almost every album has a song or 2 I skip. Hell, even the Beatles "White Album" has "Wild Honey Pie" and "Revolution 9"

Metallica had a streak of greats. 5 debut at #1. Never been done by anyone else.

I thought Aerosmith had a great opening run.

Alice in Chains had a decent string.

Rush ha a string of pretty good albums. The keyboard era had a bit of driftwood content. Although Subdivisions is one of my fav songs, and the one they opened the last concert I saw with.

Actually the Dave Matthews Band has had 6 in a row debut at #1. I'm fully expecting...they don't count, they blow, frat boy band, blah blah blah. Don't care, just knew that because it was on the radio when the album came out.

Edit: As far as the thread goes I think almost every band I would name has been said. Although if I had to pick one I would have to say Zep.

I've been spinning a new album the last few days by a band whose LAST album is pretty much my favourite of all time... and i'm a little let down. It got me thinking, what band has had the longest Awesome album in a row streak? (In your opinion of course). For me it's probably Pantera, starting with Cowboys From Hell and ending with The Great Southern Trendkill. So, that's 4 I guess. Anyone?

I'm in the minority with you....I love all Rush as well.... especially the 80's stuff.

Rush has never made a bad album. They try different avenues and that sort of thing but they are always creative and original. I wish I had a fraction of their song writing talent!

Jimi Hendrix - 4, not the longest streak but probably one of the mightiest
U2 - Quite a streak, I prefer Boy - Joshua Tree period
Nick Drake (he is a great guitarist!) - 3, but he only made 3, and they're fantastic

The Rush list is solid, prog makes me snooze a lot, but they really are all great albums. Same for DT, I own all those and really, really try to listen to them even though Ratt usually wins out.

I'd give Zeppelin 7 in a row (I'm counting Presence, Page played his ass off on that one).

Priest, sadly I can only give 5 in a row (Sad Wings through British Steel), as mentioned Point of Entry is the problem child (not a bad album, but not awesome).
Maiden, I'm just not sure on Seventh Son...good, but I don't know about awesome.
Does Diver Down kill the Van Halen streak? I actually like it a lot (I'll go the whole Roth era), but strictly going awesome, not sure.
I'd like to actually give the Thrash awesome consistency award to Overkill, but I'm not sure on the album count.
Symphony X, 7 in a row (everything from Damnation Game on, maybe slightly debatable on the last album).
Nevermore, I think I could argue all 7.
Blind Guardian, at least 7 starting with Tales From the Twilight World.
Anybody else on the planet who loves Budgie? The first 6 maybe, I'd put them up with any of the other 70's big boys.
