Ernie Ball Musicman!

Best quality:price ratio? Not so much...fails in the price, which typically runs $1,700-$3,000. Now, on the used market much better ratio! But, overall in the quality:price ratio argument, Carvin beats EBMM like a red headed step-child - Carvin > EBMM

Others will disagree maybe on how they define quality. I still stand by MM for $$$-quality ratio. Carvin's are very good for the money, but I've never played one I wanted to own. The idea of Carvin always seems better to me than their actual guitars. YMMV. :) I gotta give a nod to Ibanez too. Great, great guitars for the money.

It's true, that everyone has their own context on how they view this scenario. First of all, let me just say that I've actually owned quite a few EBMM's in recent times that I've eventually sold....while I currently continue to own 2 Carvins, that I would not ever been inclined to sell because of two reasons: 1) I really enjoy playing them. 2) I wouldn't be able to stand the devasting resale value that I'd get out of them if I ever tried to sale them. Honestly, I'm not even trying to convey that Carvin guitars are better than EBMM guitars. Although, when speaking of the quality:price ratio....you can get a nice quality new Carvin between $800-$1,200 for example vs. the more expensive EBMM that ranges from $1,700-$3,000. And, where I give Carvin the edge on this especially, is that you are able to do this and even have some of your own preferred specs included within this price range. Which is one of the underlying reasons I still own Carvins over EBMMs. I still love EBMMs, particularly the Axis and Petrucci models.....yet, there were things about them that I did not like and would have wanted to change. But, EBMM will not make them to order with the specs that you'd prefer, so because of this, I'm stuck with the Carvins over the EBMMs. I'd still love to own another EBMM one day. But, that won't happen until they build one of their models with the exact specs I'm looking for by accident, or until they allow buyers to choose some options. The cool thing about Carvin, is that I was able to build a C66 Contour to the specs that are most important to be on a guitar (frets, fingerboard radius, etc.) and get exactly what I was looking for with one of their tweed cases for under $1,100 shipped to my door. Only thing I ultimately had to change were the p/u's and ever since have been totally satisfied with it. So, this is where I have to give it to Carvin for the best quality:price ratio. $800-$1,200 for the qualtiy that you get....come on now!

The Charvel production model guitars are amazing for the price.

I would have to say the ESP LTD line. My Ltd V plays better and stays in tune better than the high end ESP Horizon I had.

I love EBMM guitars, own 2 and play them as my main guitars most the time. They are easy to play and pretty much bullet proof.

Compared to what we would have to pay for similar quality name brands over here they are good value and the quality is always superb.

I have always said I'd love to customise one from the factory but I'm sure that would push the price into Suhr territory.

Cant comment on Carvin as the direct selling model means that they are never seen in this part of the world but in the pictures they look pretty ugly so I'd never be interested n buying one without playing it first.

i love my ESP lynch guitars but ive played a few music man guitars that just ruled .... i played the jpx6 today with the barolo finish and it was gorgeous and played soooo damn nice ... my next guitar will be a bfr petrucci with piezo system

those guitars are damn well worth the money for sure

Looks like Ibanez, Charvel and Carvin are leading!

I'm interested in Carvin. I've played a bass of theirs before and it was alright, but I've never had any of their guitars leave a huge lasting impression on me.

Love Ibanez for what they are. I want to get a Universe at some point.

Charvel? I think I've only ever seen one in person.

Can't go wrong with their Carved Top Series!

GUTIERREZ.

Totally agree.

Unfortunately the only people that can vouch for this are the few of us that own one.

I'm gonna say that it you are looking for a shred stick, Ibanez is hard to beat of the money/quality ratio.
