Splawn are great cabs for the dollar. I have a Splawn straight 4x12 with man o wars and guvnors that I use with my older version QR. good quality cabs and a good match for their heads. All Splawn stuff is a good bang for the buck and Scott is nice to deal with. Their headcases are also cool and well built, I got a white JMP lookin one for my QR.

The king of my 4x12's is the Bogner slant with V30's. Thing sounds great with whatever head I run through it. Next is VHT with P50e's. The mentioned Splawn and Marshall JCM800 1960 w/75's. Weakest cab of 5 4x12 is Soldano with V30's.

You were also comparing Governors against V30s. I was looking for a pair of V30s a while ago. Couldn't find any, but I did find a pair of Governors for a good price. I hated them. They sounded like ass to me with the amps I have(one of them being a Splawn) and I think my amps sound great with V30s.

Maybe so, but even if he'd had V30s in there, the OS Bogner cab would have still sounded MUCH fuller, fatter, and larger. Because the fact is, a big part of the magic that is those cabs is the extra spacial volume in there. Most 2X12s just don't have it.

I've owned a Bogner oversided 2x12 cab. They're not the best sounding 2x12 cabs . In fact, I don't even think they sound that good. It was stock loaded with two pre-China V30s. I even tried replacing those. The only way I could get a decent sound out of it was if I took the back off of it.

Has anyone play a Splawn 4x12 front loaded?
Yeop, my 4x12 is front loaded. Incalled scott spawn and gave him the serial number , it was the 47th cab they ever made. Sounds really punchy and fat. I'm pretty happy with it but I'm going to try and sell it so I can get a Diezel cab to match my VH4 and Hagen...

What speakers do you have in it? I hope you hang on to it until you get your Hagan, I want to her that combo.

Splawn Cabinets sound fantastic. They are a bit on the stiff side though, but pair EXTREMELY well with Greenbacks and H30s. I have Greenbacks in mine, and it does the br00tals nicely:

Hell yea!

When I order it I plan on getting it with the Splawn Small Block speakers which Scott himself recommended. I think they're beefed up versions of Greenbacks.

I am also trying to find another 212 cabinet. I have a THJD, Bogner OS212 and Stone Age 212C but I want a closed back 212 that is a little deeper and works well with high powered Greenbacks since I am ordering the Celestion Creambacks when they arrive. Many people recommend the vertical Rectifier 212 so I might go that route and installed the Creambacks!
The Splawn 212 cab I looked at is very short and would need a stand to be heard.

Yeah i got a splawn 2x12 and mine had the SB'S and i got rid of them pretty quick. I love the cab but put a scumback H75 and a V30 and love the tone. If you are a fan of V30's im not sure you will like the SB'S but if you find the V30's to aggressive they may be right up your alley, then again i have hated all the eminence speakers I have tried... :D

I have 2 Splawn 4x12's. Great cabs. They project like no other cab I have played through. I want to try putting Celestions in one some day. I have 2 Kress 4x12's (local builder). One of my Splawn cabs has MoW/Gov's and the other has BB/SB's. One Kress has V30's/G12T75's and the other has Scumback M75/H75's (65 watt versions). Point being they are "comparable" speakers from different companies and although I prefer the Celestions and Scumbacks to the Emi's, the Splawn cabs project and cut better in a band mix.

How does this cab compare to a Slawn cab..EVh 4x12:

i've played a splawn cab that a friend of mine has and it had 2 V30's and 2 GT75's in an X Pattern when my friend casey bought it from Dimebag11. now it has all V30's and it is built like a tank. i have tried my friends slightly modded JMP 2203 through it and a 5152. My only complaint is that the cab is so tight there is no bloom at the end of notes, it's like the cab chops off notes before they finish ringing out....way to early from what i heard up close.

Mlies above the rest of these cabs

Marshall Mode 4 v 30's
Marshall 4x12 75's
Marshall 4x12 v30's
Marshall 4x12 gb's
Hiwatt 4x12 unlabled
Mesa recto 4x12 v30
Mesa OS 4x12 v30
Genz Benz G-Flex 2x12 stock speakers

hope that clears things up
I will second this ^.
I've owned;
Mesa Rectum 4x12
Marshall MF400 W/G12k-100's
Marshall JCM800 W/G12t-75's
Same cab W/V30's
Ibanez Toneblaster 4x12 W/no-name speakers (best $10 ever spent)
Mesa Recto 2x12 Vert
My current, and probably permanent, cab is a Splawn Hybrid 4x12 W/Small Blocks. I'm sure a Mills, Diezel, Bogner, or Engl Pro are all in the same ballpark as far as sound and build quality but my personal preference is the Splawn.
