I'm thinking about building a higher end 24 3/4 SSS parts caster . How many of you have done it? What was the approximate total cost? And do you think it was worth it?

Have made many recently. Been spending an average of about 1k with a case. Lots of fun but not sure what I am going to do with all of them.

This will get you started.

I'd love 1K. My estimated cost is considerably higher but still way short of an Anderson. But that's the level I'm trying to get close to.

Where are you getting a body/neck for so cheap that you can do it for $1k? I feel like even the absolute cheapest from like Warmoth is $700+ and thats assuming you're good with whatever choices they made.

Why Warmoth?

I thought about this for a while, because I like the shorter scale length. Found it tricky to find a conversion neck outside of Warmoth.

I'll probably just get a Fender Mustang and frankenstein that.

Can probably check with Musikraft also.

Depends—if you bargain hunt for wood and don’t particularly care about weight or neck profile you can do it for around $1k but if you want light weight and/or exotic woods it will push you up to almost $2k. Both of these are light as a feather with MJT nitro finishes and birdseye necks came in under $2k.

For some crazy reason only the Fender USA parts are the only ones that hold their value but the Japan stuff always seems like better quality to me.

The Fender Mexico stuff seems crappy and even the Indonesian stuff seems like better quality.

But yeah, USA made will hold it's value.
