I forgot to mention too, that I would really like to see a Kemper that is rack mountable.

Rack unit exists, as of a few weeks ago.

Re: jumping on the bandwagon, I've jumped. But I don't see it as a KPA vs [insert other amp/modeler/whatever]; there's plenty of room for everything. Why do I have choose only one solution? Im not dumping my beloved tube amps. My limiter is my wallet.

I've considered it and almost took the leap but came to the realization that I currently have no need for it...I like my current lineup of amps a lot. Perhaps if I start doing more recording down the road I'll look into it, but for now I'm happy with what I have.

My situation, exactly.

I just sold off my AxeII and am awaiting a powered rack Kemper from Brad. I'm happy with my amps but I still want something to record with which is what I do mostly. The AxeII is very cool but it's time for a change.

Didn't you have a Kemper for awhile?

I am VERY interested in the Kemper, but every time I listen to my recordings with my AMT preamp pedals the gas passes ...

I did for a couple months and that's all I had at the time. I didn't play very much while I had it because I was recovering from back surgery. Then I saw a head I wanted and sold it so I never really gave it a chance. Now I'm hearing great sounds coming from users like you Pete and I can't resist

I went the digital route(axe standard & II ) with powered monitors a while ago. It was cool for a while , had a few issues live and I really just wanted to turn a dial instead of going into menues between songs .
Sold the rig and bought an Uberschall Half stack..I will remember that first gig back to tubes for live use the rest of my life..I had a grin for 2 weeks !

Cool beans. When you get it, send me a message and I'll get you some of my special recipe profiles :)

Well, I'd love a Kemper or even an AxeFX but I find I'm not willing to sell off my Splawn or Mark IV to get one. So I guess that says something. I've owned an Axe Standard and Ultra and really loved the effects but I hated the way they sounded direct believe it or not. Plus, an OD in front of either of my amps gets me great low volume tones.

Thanks Pete  Do you gig and record with your Kemper all the time or do you still pull out tube heads occasionally? I wish I could get a copy of Andy Sneap's Accept profiles

Didn't know that. Good to see that Kemper has one out now. http://www.pro-tools-expert.com/home-pa ... avail.html

I see they now have one with a built in power amp as well.

I've jumped on the bandwagon, loving this thing so far.

I may bite soon or wait for a used powered rack. I am worried about the cheap plastic knobs shearing off. Also worried about how long will these things actually last? The same as a computer like 6 years? It appeals to me as a good fly away gig lightweight amp.

While I think the Kemper is a killer piece of gear, I have no desire for one. I simply do not have a need for it.

I love the stories some of these guys tell about converting to digital.
"So I sold my tube heads and cabs, bought a (Kemper/Axe Fx), $800 midi pedal, 2 $800 powered FRFR speakers, and a rack and I'll be damned. It sounds really really close to the tube amp I just sold."

What's a kemper?

Here's my brief history...

Played tube amps for as long as I can remember...sold my amp when the Axe Ultra came out...used it for a good 6 months but just couldn't jive with the amp tones. The effects were AWESOME though. I sold it and went back to my amp. Then I sold the amp again a year later and went back to the axe like an idiot, thinking it would be different with the new firmwares...that lasted about 4 months before I sold it and bought my amp again.

I stayed with my amp for a couple of years now until I started really looking into the Kemper. I had to buy one, even though I really can't afford one. The main reason was trying to finish my CD and not having to set up and break down my amp EVERY day to record for 2 hours. However, this time, I didn't sell my amp. I sold a bunch of effects gear to help offset the cost. I now have both and can choose which one I want to use.

I played my first gig with the KPA a couple of weeks ago and the general feeling was that it sounded great out front. I will most likely use it for my next gig in 2 weeks at a casino because they don't want the band loud on stage. That's the real benefit for me. I profiled my amp and can take it anywhere and get a consistent sound, no matter how loud or low the volume is. Fly date? Just take the Kemper in a padded bag, run it through whatever backline they supply and I still have my sound. Not a Line 6 facsimile of my sound...but my actual profiled amp. When I A/B them, I can barely notice a difference and I'm 100% positive that 99% of the audience I'm playing for can't either.

I won't be joining the digital party. I figure why go through this big switch just to try and dial in the sound I get now. And anytime I've had a piece of gear that promises 2 million tones, I often used less than a couple.
