Why do forum members think that saying "ghey" or "gaey" magically shields them from being called bigots?

Funny, I know a lot of gay people and I've never heard this from any of them once. Not saying it can't happen, of course, I just don't believe it's common.

He didn't say it's done by the majority or even that it's common, although I suspect that in some circles it would be - it'd depend on the clique.

When all's said-and-done of course, everything comes down to context and intent. If one feels insulted, one can ask, "Did you mean to insult me?" and if the answer's "yes", then one can say "Congratulations; mission accomplished" and laugh it off... or walk away.
