Will you guys still use modelers if they require a subscription?

This guy will never require a subscription. It spreads the love for free.

I remember back when those Pods were the real threat to tube amps. Times have changed.

I do kind of feel bad that some of these companies are struggling, but subscription based software is not a great option for most of us. Some of us are not using the software every day and it doesn't make sense. I do use Sibelius pretty much every day, but I don't want to pay $30 a month, especially if I can just use my older version that still is pretty good.

Still my favourite L6 unit to this day and I've owned them all except from Helix onwards.

The Matchless model was fantastic and I can't remember which models I used for creamy leads but boy did it have cream in spades.

Gus G recorded an entire album with one of these in his earlier days. I want to say it was either with mystic prophecy or one of the other bands he filled in for. The album tone was absolutely crushing - the mixing and mastering is what matters. I’m still shocked he did an entire album with one for metal and it didn’t sound unprofessional.

Doesn't surprise me at all bro'.

Good-to-hear 'though 'cause it served me very-well back in the day.

I saw Kirk Hammett was playing a Flextone head back in the Garage Revisited days album. I almost bought one because of that. Crazy how you can't even give them away now.

My dad had bought me one of these for my 18th birthday. He hated hearing me play guitar, so he thought I’d use the headphone jack. I ended up using it in front of the amp I was using at the time. lol.

That thing was badass, I don’t care what anyone says.

You ever fuck around with a Fractal? Kinda sounds dirty reading that lol

I have, fractals can sound great - probably the most amplike in tweakability. I prefer the kemper personally, because I prefer the super exact replica of an exact signal chain, but all the big modelers excel at their various different things. The Helix and HX stomp are really good for integrating at live rigs.

That doesn't change what they are, at the core, though. WIthout amps they wouldn't have anything to model and would be worthless.

If they tried to make it a subscription based service they would all go out of business in months.

C’mon man, you can say the same thing about Friedman. Chicken/egg lol….

Hell yeah they would—sorry haven’t read the whole thread, who is proposing this?

No, actually you can't - the whole point is that they model amps - friedman makes amps

If there are no new amps to model, no one has any reason to buy a new modeler or update their old one

Literally the first post of the thread lol
