I have a MCII built from Burger's kit and it is fucking killer. I had it done with KT88's and with that same MM OT recommendation and it's putting out 140 watts clean. I have a 2017 MCII that uses the e34L tube and I can honestly say that i like the clone as much as the real deal. The KT88 version is fucking massive sounding!

Did you build it yourself? I have several of Jason's boards but havent actually sat down and started pushing components into the boards. I may end up just buying a populated board from him then wire it myself at somepoint.

who did you get to do the build? Are they open to doing another one? I have the PCB's just collecting dust and my time is pretty limited these days.

Jason (Headfirst Amplification) is a mate of mine and I helped design/verify the PCBs.

The PCBs are the real deal. I’ve played every one of his builds and will soon AB against a real Wizard.

Build with quality iron and big voltage and you will get the Wizard sound for sure.

For the DIYers out there, it’s a great option that we have never had.
Will Jason build one with tin/lead solder, or is tin/lead banned down under? Those populated boards look awesome!

Dang, wish I knew about those boards. I'm building a 2xKT88 ultralinear amp that is a hot-rodded Jubilee...I don't really know the true Wizard schematic. I'm using Merren transformers at about 500 plate volts and a custom UL OT Chris made. Should be done soon.

Jason will do it. Just email him. Google headfirst amplification then contact him.

I have an MTL and an MCII board. Both have a couple components installed on them but if you were interested I can sell them if you are in the US. Would save you a few bucks. But... you can get each board from him for $30 plus 20 shipping. He will give you build docs, schematics, layouts, and BOM.

Where would a person get a chassis with the proper layout for these?

I the the henning amps guy used the valvestorm chassis.. they offer plenty of holes and options

Ceriatone is making a clone right now
I would absolutely love for one of you Wizard owners to do a side by side with one of these and report back

Man that would be AMAZING if Ceriatone pulled that off even if only 90% accurately.
Yep..because that means that one day I might be able to afford one !

Bruce from brit-tone amplification has clone deyoung transformers and his slo clones are amazing i have a 50w version and he sounds better than my real slo

I'm building a MCII clone, just been on the back burner for a while, been too busy. Planning on doing a single channel MTL too.
Did you finally finish your clone mcii? How does it sound ?

The board is the easiest part. The switching is were most will get lost.

man yeah... Im doing his cali board now. I got the board already populated and Im using the Gargoyle transformer set. This amp isnt nearly as busy as the Wizard ones and there are some times Im scratching my head. Im still a complete noob so I'm learning as I go. I think I should be finished by the end of this week.

Jason's boards are pretty awesome and he has been a huge help. I looked back at some pics I did of my first amp from last year and some related notes and I have improved a ton but I still have a long long way to go.
