If I were him ( and I've been in a similiar situation) I'd take this crap
as motivation and never give up.
That was some pretty serious nagging man.
I'm surprised he didn't chop her up and stick her in the dishwasher
folllowed by sowing her back together.
Thw reality is that he's living under her roof so she's titled to grind on him.
This is exactly why I moved out...FREEDOM

Just because he's living under her roof, it doesn't entitle her to verbally abuse her son.
You have to remember.....most people are assholes.
I would NEVER EVER EVER.......slam my kids for playing music.
EVER!!
And all my kids play instruments.

makes me appreciate my parents putting up with my guitar playing during my teenage years. I feel bad for this kid.

Yep.

My folks were both in music, so I had it easy.

She's got some valid points though.  Kinda freaky how two of the knobs line up with his eyes as he just takes it. He's probably thinking this :codeak: :powpow: :uzi:

Me too. Why upload that? Maybe his mom is more of a Marshall gal. ;)

If it's real it is fairly obvious that it happens all the time. He just sits there, let's her rant, and then goes back to the vid. If real, very sad.

I don't think it is fake. My buddy has a mom like this. While I highly disagree with her and everything she is saying, I honestly think it is coming from a good place-she isn't showing it properly but you can tell she cares for her son. I think it is due to the fact that her son's and her own generations are much different, they obviously do not understand each other. According to the description, he is only 17. I can see if he was 25 or something. And yeah, maybe he should find a part-time job, do some volunteering, or something and those are things she should try and inspire him to do but she should also support her son in his hobbies as well.

Not fake. Kid was a regular on the Marshall Forum, others there have met the mom. She's off the deep end, has taken away all his stuff and has texted his friends letting them know he's done with all of them, and what losers they are...

Man! Shades of my youth, only it was my old man and he wasn't as nice about it!
This old Rush tune sums it up perfectly for me.

Playing guitar is the therapy that is keeping him from going of the deep end and trying to figure out what to do with the body.

That was my Mother right there,
same Shit. She continued her ways
like that, well after I had moved out.
I haven't spoke to her since 1999, that's
what happens when a Parent is berates
their child constantly....they end up with
no relationship with their child in the latter
years of life when they need their children
the most.

My Son is 20 and I encouraged him to Rip
as much as he wanted to as a kid! I hooked him
up with some of the best gear at the time,
Les Pauls, GK, Marshall, Mesa, etc...
He has since given up Jammin' for Hot Chicks
at Arizona State U where he is currently a Sophomore.

So in closing, I say this to that TWAT in the Video:
"EMBRACE YOUR CHILD'S PASSIONS AND
NUTURE THEM"!!!

I picture her giving her lecture while drinking a glass of cheap vodka.

I've seen this before : :D

But seriously, she sounds like a concerned parent with a most likely wastoid son with no plans for the future, going nowhere. That was pretty mild compared to my parents !

I kept waiting for Dee Snyder to yell "I Wanna Rock!" in her face, then have a strummed power chord blow her out a window. Disappointed.

Edit - Damn, thegame beat me to it.

Apparently "Preset 9" turns your mom into a condescending cunt.

That is definitely not the worst I've seen -- I think this type of response is typical with many teenaged guitar dudes and their moms who are going through menopause. But it is always sad to see.

The best revenge is success!

So it sounds like she doesn't want him home and safe in his room playing music.. . Maybe she prefers him to get on meth and run the streets all summer.. Talk about a bitch that needs a curb stomp! :gethim: :gethim: :gethim: :gethim: :gethim: :gethim: Leaving is to easy on that bitch.. Crushing dreams is not motivation...

Now if the guy is 35 and living at home I support this video.

If this is an under 18 kid at home then its terrible....so many kids have no passion for anything so she should be supporting his interests regardless if she doesn't like it or understand it. I personally would want my teenager stoked about playing and devoting time and effort to it.

What would your rather have, you kid at home playing music for hours and hours or on the street doing drugs and getting into trouble?

Man that was painful to watch, especially when she came back in the room for round 2. I mean I understand her, trust me as a vocal coach in LA I'd had parents beg me not to tell their children they were talented, to discourage them from music. It's really common, it's fear, because they love them and can't imagine a happy ending to a life in music. I get it. And honestly for every person who makes a serious career in music the road is littered with hundreds of thousands of bodies and that scares parents. I was blessed with parents that were supportive, I mean when I was 16 and got kicked out of school for dope, wrecked 3 cars and did a piece of (in my neighborhood) legendary vandalism, and I mean legendary. Major defacing of my high school, my folks were trippin hard, I remember laying in my bed after totaling my second car and my dad walked in and all he said was 'son you have a superior intellect with a sub human nature'. He was scared I was gonna waste my life away. So I understand, I guess it's the way she spoke to him was so disturbing. Apples and oranges.

Way too many assumptions going here. We have no idea what the kid is like. Is he failing to meet certain responsibilities, financial or otherwise? Is he shirking certain duties? Is he going back on promises that he's made? There could be a myriad of unknown issues at play here. Without knowing the context of her rant we really aren't qualified to judge.

Was she too harsh regardless of the circumstances? I would say that's subjective. I've heard much worse, but you'd have to be a pretty big pussy IMO to be truly offended by her demeanor. She simply sounds fed up to me...absolutely annoying but hardly abusive.
