He posts over on SevenString.org as this topic is currently in discussion over there. He is not 18 yet, but will be very very shortly, and he is going to move out I think. His mom locked all of his guitars in storage space that he has no access to and probably never will. All he has is an Engl Invader he and his dad payed 50/50 for, but from what I have read from him, his dad seems completely fine, it is the mother that is literally short-circuited in the head.

In short, it is NOT fake.

"but from what I have read from him" I'm not trying to be a smart ass but is that the only thing you're basing your statement that this is absolutely not fake on?
The "but from what I have read from him" was what I took from him regarding his DAD, not the mother. His friends say the same thing about his mother, that she's crazy.

I've spoken to the guy in the past on ss.org about amp heads and theory a bit. He's always been really polite and helpful.

and to clarify some things

-His mom had no part in paying for his gear, that was all him and his dad 50/50
-this wasn't the first time she flipped shit, the camera just happened to be rolling as he was doing a video of his ENGL
-His PRS's have been locked away in a storage building since november and she has sworn she will never let him have access to them.
-He's 17 and moving out asap.
-He says he's never been in trouble and gets great grades and has a social life, kid just loves to play.

I'll try to find some videos but the boy can really play, I hope the exposure gives him a boost and he is able to make a go of it without her in his life.

Personally I think anyone who sides with the mother has deep seated issues that need resolving before the rear children.

My thread about this last week didn't get nearly this much attention....And got quite the opposite reaction than in this thread. Interesting....very interesting.

My mom has always encouraged me to do everything I've ever wanted. I've played just about every sport. Wanted to be a million different things when i grew up and she has always supported me. Now that I've chosen music as my current path she is still right beside me 110%. I am truly grateful for a mom who has given me nothing but encouragement in all my endeavors. I couldn't possibly imagine any sane parent not showing the same support for their children.

Remember, there are 3 sides to every story: his, hers and the truth.

I think it's hysterical how some people can watch this video, and immediately jump to "the kid is the bad guy."

I think it's frightening that most people who watch this video can't dismiss it as typical teenager/parent friction, and wish to criminally assault the mother.

You really consider that "typical" between a parent and a child?

Exactly!

To justify her actions is only a means to excuse the similarities in the ways one conducts them self or the way they were treated.

Oh, really? This is an outrage that demands a bloodletting? No one here as a teenager has ever had a verbal confrontation with their parents? Where their parents said/did some incredibly stupid things? No one here has had some very aggravating moments parenting their teenage kids?
Not at all saying the Mom was right, but jeeez, really? You gonna go print up some T-shirts and call Al Sharpton and start a protest to demand justice?? Just wow.

If my mom berated me constantly and locked away thousands of dollars of gear THAT I PAID FOR when I get good grades, stay out of trouble, and take car of my responsibilities then i'd be pretty upset too.

Everyone makes mistakes and parents goof pretty often, but when it becomes a constant and takes an emotional/financial toll out on an otherwise great kid.... then outrage kind of pours out. Everyone who knows the boy IRL says she is insane and prone to fly off into violent hysterical fits.

I never had either of my parents say or do anything remotely stupid. Maybe this is the reason why this is so foreign to me. I drove my parents nuts with straight Cs throughout all of high school, yet my mother always said she believed in me. Telling your child you're disappointed in them goes much farther than telling them they're illogical, worthless, and contribute nothing to society. Positive reinforcement works better than negative reinforcement. Just because some of us have experiences similar to this kid's, it doesn't mean it's acceptable.

In what context are his "friends" saying these things? On some forum?

Ok, again, I'm just trying to get some sense of the terms that are being used here. How do the people who "know" the boy....know the boy? That is, do they know him because they live two houses down, they are his classmates, they've been to his house a bunch of times and actually witnessed shit going down, actually met his mother and father? Or do they "know" him, because they converse with him over the internet and have only read what he has told them about the situation. If the first is true, ok, but the bottom line is that you or I most likely wouldn't be able to tell if that really was the case or not. Again, I'm just really skeptical about videos of this type.

If his Dad really is "just fine" I wonder if this kid has showed the video to him, told him that he posted it on the internet, that he has actually received offers for someone to come over and stab his wife and that the whole world now thinks his wife is a c**t.........uh, you're cool with that right dad? Who knows, maybe dad is.
I'd like to see a recording of that conversation. He could say, well dad, here's your chance to tell the world what you think about this, if this family is broken or not and if it is broken why the fuck are you not helping me out and why are you letting her take away all the stuff that I paid for? If all this is true, isn't the dad just as at fault by being non-psycho and NOT helping the kid out?

So Mom is seriously mentally ill, and her condition justifies a premeditated murder? This is just sick.

I really think those are hyperbolic statements created by "stupid" people who have not yet realized a more refined way of voicing their dissatisfaction with something that they find displeasing.

I agree.

I don't think anyone is actually condoning murder here, dude. Calm down. I sure as hell didn't.

And as far as whether the kid deserved it or not...I sure didn't hear him talk/scream back at his mother in that video, so that would be a big sign that he's not some immature asshole. I'd be more inclined to believe that the mother is an unstable bitch than believe that the kid is a little spoiled punkass.
