Would you be interested in this amp from Friedman?

Hmmm. I thought the BE and small box were supposed to be what he thought the perfect Marshall should sound like? What are they supposed to be if this is the perfect Marshall? This is getting outta control...

Great point. Also, I'd be worried that it would again sound dark and less aggressive/raw since that seems to be his take on what a good marshally sound is, which wouldn't be my idea of a "holy grail" marshall.

I thought it was only me who thought this but I find his BE sounds less raw and more smooth than what I like from "my" Marshall sound. (or the idea of what that sound is in my head) I think his dirtey Shirley is a much better take on what I would like to hear from a Marshall Style amp. But no, I don't think i would buy one.. it is going to be 95% superlead DNA anyway with 4$ in part swaps. Enough info on that already circulating on metro forum and other places which will Holy Grail - size a stock plexi.

Do you expect him to recreate the wheel?

Hard not to if this is based almost entirely on a more or less stock plexi.

He said he's cloning a '68 Plexi so I'm pretty sure it's going to have the same circuit as......a '68 Plexi. There were killer ones and there were dogs. He says the one he has is the holy grail. It may only have $2 in swapped parts but if he can make it sound kick ass then who gives a shit. If you don't like it then don't buy it.

I played a buddy's Germino the other day. Wow. Great amp, wouldn't hesitate buying one. I'm sure the Metro stuff is killer but I was very impressed with it. I'm holding off on playing it again because I've spent too much damn money already the last 3 months! Not sure if he's selling anyway..but he knows I usually have a different amp at my gigs lol...I think he's planting the seed!

actually, wouldnt it be more accurate to say the Steve went with his ear instead? i assume dave built what Steve wanted, since it was his amp?

I played a buddy's Germino the other day. Wow. Great amp, wouldn't hesitate buying one. I'm sure the Metro stuff is killer but I was very impressed with it. I'm holding off on playing it again because I've spent too much damn money already the last 3 months! Not sure if he's selling anyway..but he knows I usually have a different amp at my gigs lol...I think he's planting the seed!

They're great amps for sure. The tone is so pure and uncompressed. No pedals needed with mine but if you use one, wow. And I love how they completely clean up with the guitars volume, even with hot pickups, to that chimey Plexi tone. Good stuff.

Don't get me wrong, I love the marshalls I have, and Dave knows tone and feel for sure. And since he is hotter than hell right now, this would be the time to do it. And it's nice to see him having the success he rightfully deserves. And TBO, I am more into modern tones...so maybe that's why I am digging on the butterslax so hard.

The Metro / Friedman is a copy of EVH's main amp, S#12301. I believe only 25 of these were made (of which I have one

I'd definitely be interested. I love Friedman's. My BE-100 is the amp I'll never sell. I've played just about all of them at some point or another.

As mentioned, Friedman's have that "modern" flavor to them, although they are Marshall-based. I think a real Plexi-type with Dave's circuit would be awesome.
