I play original gigs, which means a much younger crowd fortunately; that has it's own problems though of course

Last night was a paid rehearsal if I look at the bright side.
We had a really good turnout last night actually, it was like 80/20 women to men which was odd too (for punk music)
But I have most certainly had plenty of "paid rehearsals" before
That's definitely something that is better on the cover band side, the crowds are generally more consistent - it's just the crowds skew a whole lot older, and they almost never get as big as the big gigs for original bands ( IME of course)

That gig is kind of a twice of year paid rehearsal but it's close to home so the half assed pay ain't bad. Friday night I afforded to run a five piece out in the wimberley valley and five pieces is the dream. $ risk with the extra guy but the owner been real nice to me out there lets us crank a bit, great crowds, good stage, chill vibe, solid tips and I can play whatever material I want so I been adding keys to gigs and he's a smokin' player and great dude so musically I been really enjoying where things are going. I agree, even if it's a "paid rehearsal" the key is "paid" relative to the associated opportunity costs (distance, hassle, stage/PA, etc) - if that's the case, it's always worth doing because who knows right? Could meet people with more gigs, future musicians to play with, who knows? On top of just adding to your band XP level.
IMO blues bands always sound better and more filled out with keys
It really helps ground it as traditional rather than a Bonermaster-style blues rock thing

All my thoughts exactly. A good keys man is def worth taking a 30-40 dollar cut off my pay especially this particular keys man. It makes my job easier and sounds better and tbh I think a guy like that claws in extra tips cause how often you see a full blues band like that? More women are coming to shows than men? I didn't know that had changed. When I was teen playing gigs, it was mostly a sausage fest.

Ah that sucks big time! I have a Zuma and run my Ojai off of that. I haven't had any issues with it this way but good to know!

Completely depends on the genre of music and the venue
Playing original tech-death? 100% men
Playing classic rock covers? maybe 65% men 35% women
Playing goth rock? 60% women 40% men
I was just commenting that it was odd that my original punk band had a heavily female crowd at my gig last night - punk shows are generally 50/50 or close.

It's the pedal that convinced me I like pedals. It's the franks red hot of my pedals now
The biggest surprise for me is how good it makes the ir-2 sound pushing it. I can't say enough good about it. It's subtle enough that you don't notice until you turn it off. That being said, owning a few, those cheap fuckin buttons test my patience lol. Actually picked up another can of deoxit yesterday for just that reason...

Yep lol, there's a reason they're so cheap
They sound fantastic though - especially compared to the insane 300$ tube screamers that are en vogue now, it's crazy how much tube screamer you can get for the money with them
