Many ways to run this stuff. With a Buffer, with a Loop switching deal.. Not sure I need all that.
Maybe a Fryette Valvulator Mini.. My Tuner and Analog Delay have Buffers.. Just working this shit out..

They are all good. The mod version just adds a switch that adds some more options (i believe a gain boost, low end boost, and mid boost from memory?) but you can get the basic tone from every one of the versions.

You can find it for 40-50$ (!) usually and it absolutely kills for doing the high gain rhythm boost thing; especially with amps with muddier low end like a recto or SLO.

The clean blend is basically the "introduce more transients and clarity" knob for recording.

The mod one is probably best if you've got something finicky that needs a bunch of tone shaping, like an old SS amp youre trying to wrangle for death metal or a valvestate or a tube amp that's for high gain but is EQed in a non standard way.

I loved the bass boost switch on my VS J&H. With a traditional strat it was a game changer. Of course stuff with actual dials for bass is all over nowadays but at the time that thing got me a pretty good tone for pretty cheap.

Yeah. I tried using captures of the boosted amps, and they are fine (better than fine, they sound great), but they are a bit more compressed than they should be. Which I know sounds stupid coming from a guy with the largest compressor pedal possible on his board, but still.

So I just use the OD pedals into unboosted captures. And that compressor is just a bit of mojo that the digital stuff does seem to do.

I haven't hooked up the old X2 Xwire wireless in years, not even sure the frequencies still work as I use a cable for home use.
