Honorable mention, Blackstar HT100 and Series 1.. Killer bang for the buck.

Hard Rock and variations (not metal) I can only give you top 3 cause it's been a LONG while since I've whored amps and my tastes changed drastically (from american mesa sound to more british voiced boutiques).

Mind you these 3 are all in the same ballpark to my ears.

My list seems rather pedestrian compared to what's on here, but I've had most of my luck sticking to relatively meat and potato type stuff.

Mesa Dual Rectifier
Boogie Mark V
Marshall 100w SLP
Marshall JCM800
Could stick a number of amps in the 5th spot, but they're all pretty distant behind those four.

3. Mesa Mark V (and that's after owning every iteration of the Mark series to come before it......I have one on order for my home rig. Mesa finally got channels 1 and 2 right IMO)

quite a plug for the V! i liked that amp and also felt it was the best mark series i've heard, though my buddy zachman's mark III simul-coli is a monster. the clips on your site of the PWE are amazing!
