edit: devin has a fair point, if you are an actual musician who plays in actual bands that i've heard of? you're allowed signature gear. That does not include Fluff, HP42, Agufish, etc

I'm cool with Charles Berthoud having a signature bass, because let's face it, he is the most badass bassist on the planet and has an insane level of skill and dedication, so he deserves one. Maybe Davie504 too? But Fluff, Rabea, Jared Dines, and all these other nerds don't deserve signature gear.

My favorite is when he got an Uber Ultra, put the gain on pretty high on ultra mode, engaged the internal boost AND turned on his own boost pedal and thought it was glorious. I literally laughed out loud watching that.

My only criterion for the legitimacy of offering "signature" gear is: does the artist in question have a signature tone, playing technique or writing style? And does the associated signature product get me closer to that? If not, this signature nonsense is nothing but smoke and mirrors.
