Wow... just wow... that was absolutely brutal... and not a good brutal either. He was unbelievably smashed to hell and the tone was awful!! What is happening to Zakk... :(

that was the worst tone he's ever produced! fuckin funny video though :hys: god bless ya zakk!

Alright, I'm gonna say it...

RANDY RHOADS HAD INCREDIBLY SHITTY TONE AND MARSHALL'S RR HEAD SOUNDS LIKE DOG SHIT.

There. That feels better. I know this thread is a rant about how bad Zakk Wylde was playing and how drunk he was and how bad he's been lately, but honestly, that amp is shit and it's 99% of the reason why that all sounded like garbage.

That's the promo from NAMM. First of all, baldy sounds like a total dick and I hope he's not Marshall's PR man. Secondly, you can't tell me that amp sounds good. Randy Rhoads was an incredible guitar player but his tone sucked and anyone who tries to emulate that tone ends up having shitty tone as well. Throw the Aqua Net away, boys. It's 2008 and in the 50 years of rock music available there are much better tones out there to drool over.

My $0.02... Flame on!

1. Be careful, dude. Warren and George used more AquaNet than Randy, and they possessed the tone of the gods.

Aquanet = big hair, NOT bad tone.

Personally, I hate Randy's tone too, but don't crucify the whole decade just because of Randy.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean that the '80s sucked by ANY means. I play guitar because of '80s rock. I'm just saying that sometimes it seems like people haven't heard anything other than Randy in 25 years.

I agree, Randy Rhoads was an amazing player, but his sound was shit. I have to say that Marshall is nice looking and that is it. I have not heard any clips of that thing that is good. As Zakk Wylde would say "end of story period". Zakk has become pretty boring over the last 15 years with the same chorused pentatonic licks over and over.

I agree it sounds pretty bad, but it also sounds like to me he's got a chorus running into the front of a dirty amp, which isn't helping the sound at all. But it's definitely funny to watch :D !

That was pretty vile. :aww:

I have to admit, I like Zakk up through Hangover Music. After that... wtf?

IMO .that was the biggest problem with the 80's tones ..CHORUS .on evrything clean, dirt blues licks.hi gain

I guess if you dont like RR's tone then that is how you hear it and it's the truth for you. I think the chorus made it sound a little bad but overall somehow it complemented Ozzy's voice and the music turned out really cool in the end. Would it have been better if Randy had "better" tone. Like , if Randy had Lynch's amp from Under Lock and Key, would that have made Speak of the Devil sound better for Ozzy's music?

I heard the RR amp at winter NAMM. It sounded awesomely fat and juicy. The demo guy was playing a LP straight in with no fx. The RR cab wasn't loaded with speakers so it was going through one of the other cabs. That guy dialed it in perfect. Zakk, not so much.

Randy Rhoads had awesome tone man. I still love it to this day. it sparkles and floats on top of the rest of the band, for lack of a better term

You fucking n00bers need to respect teh mang's tone.

Uh, yeah. Obviously.

That was horrendous!

I'm sure the amp sounds great live but I have yet to see/hear a clip that has impressed me in the slightest.

Wow, this thread is approaching Harmony Central mentality.

Good Lord, I'm surprised his liver is still functioning....that was horrible.
