RANDY RHOADS HAD INCREDIBLY SHITTY TONE AND MARSHALL'S RR HEAD SOUNDS LIKE DOG SHIT.
There. That feels better. I know this thread is a rant about how bad Zakk Wylde was playing and how drunk he was and how bad he's been lately, but honestly, that amp is shit and it's 99% of the reason why that all sounded like garbage.

That's the promo from NAMM. First of all, baldy sounds like a total dick and I hope he's not Marshall's PR man. Secondly, you can't tell me that amp sounds good. Randy Rhoads was an incredible guitar player but his tone sucked and anyone who tries to emulate that tone ends up having shitty tone as well. Throw the Aqua Net away, boys. It's 2008 and in the 50 years of rock music available there are much better tones out there to drool over.
My $0.02... Flame on!
I'm sorry, I didn't mean that the '80s sucked by ANY means. I play guitar because of '80s rock. I'm just saying that sometimes it seems like people haven't heard anything other than Randy in 25 years.guitarslinger":1bxdbb9h said:1. Be careful, dude. Warren and George used more AquaNet than Randy, and they possessed the tone of the gods.
Aquanet = big hair, NOT bad tone.
Personally, I hate Randy's tone too, but don't crucify the whole decade just because of Randy.

I think the chorus made it sound a little bad but overall somehow it complemented Ozzy's voice and the music turned out really cool in the end. Would it have been better if Randy had "better" tone. Like , if Randy had Lynch's amp from Under Lock and Key, would that have made Speak of the Devil sound better for Ozzy's music?
