In reality, it’s an 80’s Metallica song but one of my favorite heavy songs I never tire of is Locust Star by Neurosis. Plus for really brutal I like their song The Doorway. The opening instrumental, Suspended in Light is an amazing segue-way into it.

Lol..That was the first time I heard it too! God bless the 80’s video stores. I remember pausing the credits to see who was playing what. Great soundtrack. Love me some Princess of the Dawn too.

Agreed Princess of the dawn is another great track. Such a simple but potent opening riff.

Yeah the 80’s Italian horror movies had a ton of great classic metal in their soundtracks. Still remember Dario Argento’s Creepers using Maidens flash of the blade during the slasher chance scene.

Akerfeldt is a genius alright, but he sometimes comes off as such a pedantic jackass. Still, killer metal music before Heritage. Good music after Heritage too, but it just wasn't my style.

Such a smart and interesting band...Early on, I felt strongly that they would reach "Tool like" status and popularity. As usual in certain segments of metal, the vocals probably held them back to a certain degree. Very talented group.

I agree, the heavy stuff was just still too heavy for the average listener
