This amp sounds amazing ! Nice work ! I tried to mod my 68 metro after I saw your youtube ONE wire mod and have not got close to the result you have.

Great Stuff !

Thank you for watching the clip and commenting.

I'm sorry to hear about your '68 metro.
You need to have a PPIMV to get the full effect of this mod and sometimes a few circuit tweaks to tighten things up.

Yeah, I do have a PPIMV. I did the one wire mod and it sounded pretty good but was too flubby in the bass. I changed V1 cap to a 4.7uf and it helped but not enough. Tried changing some values here and there and just can't get it tighened up.

Here are the gut shots of my 68 Plexi. :)

Thanks for the reply ! I did see this diagram before and I have made some of the changes your talking about but not getting the result i'm looking for.

I'm sure it is just my lack of experience, I will play with this again and see what I can do !

Thanks, Again !

You're welcome, my friend.

My best advice is to make all of the changes because if you only make some of the changes you won't get the results you're looking for.

Wish me luck, I'm going in !

That's awesome Bro!!

Keep me posted and let me know how it goes.

Here is a list of components that I have to change, Got my work cut out for me.
Not sure where to get some of these. Just learning this stuff and not very good at I"m afraid.

Looking forward to tweaking this thing. Thanks for the help man !

Have a look at the NFB circuit 100K on a 4 ohm tap and .68uF/4.7K presence control.

Sure will ! thanks for all your help

I have always wanted to learn to tweak my own amps. Been having them modded for years.
I have learned to do little things like bias my own amps and what not.

Still have a lot to learn but I really enjoy tweaking !

So Michael, what brand caps do you recommend for the phase inverter coupling caps? I have .1 uf mustards now but need to change too .022 uf. I can get some Bianchis is that best ?

Thanks,Brian

Also can't find a 56PF for the phase inverter cap, I have a 47PF now and that's all I see online ?

I would recommend using the Mustard Bianchi or NOS Mustard caps for the PI couplers.
My second choice would be the Sprague Orange Drops.

Yeah, lets just leave the fizz cap at 47pF for now, if we need a little more compression later on we can raise the value up.
But it should be fine for now.

Great, thanks for the help ! Got to go the iron is hot ! :D

Sorry for so many questions but I have another one.

The wire coming of the NFB resister is currently going to the rear lug of my speaker output jack.
Do I simply unsolder this wire and reattach it to the 4 ohm lug of my selector ?

Thanks !

OK, one more please ! can I use a 1/2 watt 4.7k resister on the presence pot ? Or does it need to be a 1 watt ? Thanks

Yup, that is exactly what you do, just like in the diagram I gave you. :)

Yes, 1/2 watt will be fine.
But, what is the value of your presence pot right now??
Is it 25K??

Not sure about the presence, can't read it well. looks like it says 5k ? don't think that could be right ?
