Killer. Makes the legends and their silly signature amps (EVH, Carvin, ENGL, Randall, etc.) sound silly.
Real tone.
Great job brother.

Thank you, I appreciate it Bro!!

In all honesty it's the best sounding amp I've ever played through and I've tried a ton of amps over the years. :)

FWIW, I was looking through Marshall-derived schematics I have and in one hand-drawn schematic of a particular amp (dont want name brand, schematic could very well be wrong anyway) there was a regular mode and a gainier mode. For gainer mode, it looked VERY much like a one-wire mod added to regular mode. It just added a gain stage before regular mode, .0022uF coupler, no pot, 1M series, then 68k to ground and 68k grid stopper.

Also found a file called "Arredondo 2203 mod" that also had a first stage almost identical to above.

These are different in that they are not PPIMV amps, but still it's interesting to see. Particularly in first amp.

I think that's pretty much exactly what I just went through. I'm about to put mine back to stock but will try one last version first.

BTW, found a '76 JMP Superlead for $1200 (but with toggles instead of rockers). Should get it next week!

Hey, congrats my friend.
Those are great amps, I've had a few of them over the years.

I prefer the 100w Super Bass circuits the most. :)

Dude, first time listener, and I'm gonna echo everyone else here. The tone is astounding. The playing is very fresh and interesting. Almost like tipping the hat to EVH, while under a slight acid trip like influence. An awesome and refreshing tour de force of technique and phrasing, at times purposely coloring outside the lines. Dynamic, mesmerizing, and just plain fucking cool to listen to. Fantastic man!

Thank you so much for listening, I can't tell you how much I appreciate your kindness and encouraging words.

I always try to make the sound clips interesting for the listeners and hearing that I accomplished this means the world to me.

Cascading the front end and using a 1/4 inch plug with no cable attached to it.
Well, that and sheer volume. :)
Very effective and still works great to this day.
Old school sound that still gets the job done in this day and age. ;)

Thank you Reno, I appreciate the kind comments my friend.

I'm going to through one more sound clip out there, drop D flat riffage. :)

 Those clips sound ridiculous. Your playing does them justice to say the least!

Thank you for commenting on the clips, I really appreciate it.

I'm just an old hack. :)

Awesome tone. Will this boost work on 2 input amps like a hi/low input?

Thank you kindly!!

Unfortunately it will not work on the 2203/2204 master volume Marshall's. It was designed for the 4 hole Marshall Super Lead/Super Bass model amps.

I was just on vacation a few miles from Michael's place, and he was kind enough to have me over to give his mighty Marshall Major another go.

I can tell you straight up that the greatness you hear in Michael's clips is every bit as stunning in person. There is nothing being added in the recording process to make the amp sound amazing; it's all in the amp and especially Michael's hands. Having said that, I'm sure there are a lot of people (even some of those who love that early VH type tone), who, if they plugged into Michael's amp, would say that it's just not for them. You have to really work and have a certain touch/attack/ and nuances to your playing in order to get the goods from this amp. It is not easy to play!

And while I did have an absolute blast playing through the amp, in reality, I couldn't make that Marshall sound nearly as good as Michael does. It was one of those situations where you have more fun listening than playing.

Just before I had to leave, there were a few minutes when I was standing there listening to him play through the amp and blowing through some riffs, and I swear to God, it was the greatest sound I have ever heard coming out of a speaker cabinet! No hyperbole here. It was just that amazing! Sounded so good it was actually comical.

Anyway, enough rambling. Thanks again Michael for being so cool about me dropping by. It was a blast!

Well said Reno, there's a lot of great points in your post that are just so true.

Thank you so much for the kind review my good friend.

It was a pleasure having you over and cranking up the Plexi, it was a total blast Bro.

Those are the amp settings you and I dialed in the other day.

The only thing different is I'm using the 1/4 inch plug and the volume is down a little bit compared to the way we had it the other day.

I'm really liking these amp settings now.

I thought my GAS was cured, but this clip has me wanting to build this amp. Is it a stock '68 Plexi or circuit clone? If not, what mods? I want this tone.
