I talk shit but I love my Canadian bros. Politics really don't concern them much. It's the fact that the US has overtaken them in youth hockey development. USA owns hockey now, and is the new worldwide home of hockey.

Yeah but those isolated Canadian towns breed some monster players. Warroad and Roseau are damn near in Canada anyways and that's generally where the best teams in MN usually were.

That's the funniest thing I read here since the kid left. At best you've grown to the point where you're finally competition for us.

You know what some of the best hockey I've ever watched was? Well, let's call it the most exciting. The Canadian vs US women. Those teams HATE each other and play HARD. It's always a great game no matter who wins.

Things started to change in the 90's. We were playing tournaments in northern MN and a team called the "L.A. jr Kings" showed up and was competitive but still got their ass handed to them by Warroad which is a tiny town up near the Canadian border. I think they placed 3rd behind MN and Canadian A teams.

Basically, they were rich kids from L.A whose parents had the money to fund hockey dreams in socal. They flew them in on a chartered plane, had the Kings jerseys and everything. I think it was 10k for your kid to play hockey, assuming they made the team. I guess the point is, now you can play hockey if you live in Austin TX or Sarasota FL, so you don't have to be a child of the north to get a chance. TLDR, more competition today.

The Canadian side didn't start the fight, and tried multiple times to amend the relationship. However they are dealing with bad faith actors south of the border.
He knew all that. He's just doing what he does best. Play dumb.

But, is he playing or is it real? Hmm...

I have to think he was just stick poking us for a reaction. And I took the bait hook, line and sinker. Lol.

I love Canada vs US hockey. They're all great games and regardless of who wins I love watching. If the US is the better team that night, more power to them.

What I love is when someone says "Canada hasn't won a Stanley Cup in XX years". My reply is "dude, they're ALL Canadian teams regardless of where home ice happens to be". It's evened out lately but until around the 60s about 80% or more of all the players on all the teams were Canadian. I'll check those figures, I'm going from memory here.

Hmm. Looks like I underestimated...

Season / EraCanadian Players (Approx. / Peak)Share of League (%)
1917–18 (Inaugural)40~93%
1982–83 (Peak count)545~80%+
2019–20~330–35047.4%
2021–22481 (total active/appearance)~42–43%
2023–24—41.2% (All-time low)
2025–26 (Opening Day)30441.9%

USA hockey devolpment is definitely improving rapidly.

I don't think about canada at all.
Only when you 2 turds turn on the water works.

This very much sounds like the "canadian" version of the story.

Which side did you play for?
Last canadian team to win the Stanley Cup?
1993.
