Another guitar fakery video, this one about Tim Henson

There are actual idiots who fake their playing on instagram and TikTok, but of course they will never really do anything beyond posting reels for attention. Tim Henson, while I don’t care for his music and I don’t appreciate her/him trying to give me a confused boner, obviously really plays guitar and is in a real band that makes real music people have actually enjoyed. Stupid video from a retarded pot stirrer.

If the music isn't to my liking the integrity doesn't matter. Same with AI stuff.

His footwear choices do seem to reflect his guitar's tonal characteristics.

This is an era of manufactured stars and celebrities. I don't know what to say beyond that. I actually skipped all the annoying YTers critiques and just watched the video. That's what I based the thread off, as you can see in the opening post.

Their music does nothing from me though seeing a room full of tattooed up people turning up at their gigs does pique my curiosity. There's definitely a lot of background stuff going on, electronics and stuff. I'll just leave it at that.

I mean, honestly, which record company in the world is going to say, "Hey, dig this new sound", in this current environment of plastic music and bands?

Separately, interesting to note Henson is half-Chinese.

Idk man, I've seen them play live. I've never considered their style to be along the lines of boomer wank a la Steve Vai, but when they are playing their stuff they are tight as a tick's ass. I remember the opened for BTBAM on the Colors reunion tour, this was back in 2017, and they were very good.

A single excerpt of a few seconds from a live performance of improvised grandpa shred in the presence of the king of noodling himself I can chalk up to being a case of nerves.

This has never happened at any time before. Never in the 80s would a label sign a band based off how they look, give them a team of songwriters and producers, then send them to a studio where session guys would record the music. It was all so pure

I actually kinda like this guy making all his vids seething about other players and how much guitar sucks and Nashville sucks and the music industry sucks. I can't stand the overly positive turds like Butt Shill.

There are a lot of genres that emerged from the creative environment then actually. Bands like Metallica, Nirvana and Faith No More, for example. They each had their own sound, as opposed to what you hear now, where every band is filtered through the same funnel to then emerge with homogenised music courtesy the directions of the producers and the labels.

I'll admit, I could be wrong. I've heard some Polyphia, but couldn't get into it, so not the target audience. And I've not seen them live, just saw this on YT for about 5 minutes and thought I'd share as the video is recent.

There are a bunch of bands and musicians like Ichika doing the same thing, and he was also recently outed, though how true it is, we don't know unless he does a Lucas Mann and plays without the smoke and mirrors. We all know how Rings of Saturn came out swinging and then left limping. And everyone is also growing incredibly cynical about YT streamers and bands that have been "found out".

But I don't know and have no way for knowing for sure. I do know that this backing track and lip syncing thing is getting out of control, and eventually all we'll have left is metal bands filled with babes exposing their underwear and pretending to be playing live.

theres plenty of interviews where he breaks down the riffs he wrote, and then plays them :dunno:

Isn't that what the Monkees were? A media corporation that somewhat "invented" a band? I would bet there are more examples of this but I don't spend a lot of time looking into it.
Just knowing how the corporateduschers operate. I wouldn't be suprised if there are a few more "invented" propped up, or otherwised hyped acts out there. Especially in the more electronic music styles like hip hop / pop singer with dancers, etc.

You're casting pearls before swine here, man

You're just going to get a whole bunch of intellectually disingenuous rationalizations and "there's nothing new under the sun" fallacies from RTers who pretend that modern music business fakery is the same thing as 50 years ago, because it makes them feel better about being too lazy to have standards about the art they consume and the music they listen to.

As far as the OP, yeah that was a terrible solo, sure. But it's just one bad live solo, in what looks like an improv situation. Is there really any surprise that Tammy Hanson can't improv? Literally no "modern metal guitarist" under the age of 40 can improvise. There isn't a preponderance of evidence like there is for Lucas Mann, Ichika, and all the other youtube fakers.

As far as I can tell Tim Hansen can actually play, he's just a faggot who plays shitty music.

I would guess there are plenty of guys who can improvise you just don't hear about them. Metal is a super tough market right now. The bands working my area seem to have limited show opportunities that are mostly attended (well attended) by friends and family. The shows are successful but the public appeal of metal is seemingly at rock bottom. Then again, Austin is musically a smoldering pile of shit in general these days and that's being kind. If you play Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, Sublime, Steve Miller and other overplayed covers there is no end to the shit gigs, everyone else either plays corporate country outside city limits for real money or is constantly looking for venues that support decent music.

I bet most of RT would prefer Shawn Lane to either of them.
Most people outside RT would prefer Shawn Lane too IMO.

Is it any wonder public appeal for metal is at rock bottom when "metal" is Tammy Hansen and Rings of Saturn and Berried Alive?

It's not only guitar players who think that shit is fake and gay

Everything being quantized and digitized and drum samples being used on every album didn't help metal as a whole at all, in the long run. It consistently created a grey area between real performances and musicians and computerized nonsense.

And now, no one can tell the difference between "modern metal" bands and AI slop - can you believe that?!

I am well aware of this - I played in a cover band for a few years playing awful music and have never been paid more at gigs. It was eye-opening, for sure. Getting paid hundreds or even thousands of dollars to play just complete and utter dogshit at wineries and weddings.
