Excellent info! Vol up/ vol down can make a big difference in eq knob settings,as has been said.Ive experienced this live many times.Recently,I had to add a bit more mid/ decrease the low end,etc on my Elmwood m90 when I played a 5k seater where I could crank it up to real a nice volume. I almost always start w/ knobs at the halfway point when dialing in.but i'm sure there's exceptions w/some amps.

EQ to ears, not eyes. No two players are the same. What works for one person may not work for another. I always get an idea of the full sweep of every control and adjust to ear. If bass is 2 and not 8 who cares?

I mostly sit them around noon. Depends on the guitar , the only guitar I've been tweaking the EQ lately is with the Tele, I found if I bump the bass up it makes the treble less pronounced. I don't like backing down presence or treble too much with any guitar as I feel like it numbs the attack.

i just looked at my amps (splawn QR & EVH50W), and my EQ's are basically 1oclock bass, mid, treb. The EVH50W does have a slight more bass boost @ around 2oclock (I put in new preamp tubes and they seem to not have as much bass as last set)

Any extreme settings on an amp tend to not sound as good (IMO), especially on the QR. The QR is very sensitive to the EQ settings it seems

Yup, always start at Noon..Gain, Bass, Mid, Treble.....haven't found an amp that didn't sound great there....well, apart from my first Recto, always needed to turn the Bass down on that sucker.

Any Marshall guys run their eq on 10? I.e., wide Ass open? I use a fairly dark setting normally, but have been playing around with running two 800's in stereo, and ran the 2204 with the eq's on 10, except the presence, and they sounded killer. Was surprised tha t I didn't hate the Marshall on 10 and seemed to get a bit more gain..
