Kirill Basin, a democratic candidate for Congress, was arrested on Keawakapu Beach on Saturday.
Kirill is running against incumbent U.S. Rep. Jill Tokuda in Hawaii. He was arrested after a violent altercation at Keawakapu Beach in South Kihei.
South Kihei is a census‑designated place in Maui County, Hawaii, located on the leeward (south) side of Maui, between Maʻalaea and Wailea.
The ambitious Democrat was filmed taunting a group on the beach, saying, “What you gonna do? What you gonna do?”
He was then filmed getting knocked out cold in one punch from a fed-up man who took was tired of his mouth.
Kirill Basin, 40, was charged with two counts of first-degree terroristic threatening, and his bail was set at $1 million.

Kaitlyn Tracey, 33, was seen in the footage pummeling the girl on a Jersey Shore boardwalk on July 3 before turning herself in days later when investigators reviewed surveillance footage and issued a warrant for her arrest.
She was then transferred to New Jersey's notorious Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility Delaney Hall, where her husband, Matthew Geroni, 42, told the Daily Mail she had been languishing in 'horrible' conditions.
The Canadian woman, who was dubbed the 'Maple Leaf Menace' in an X post by the Department of Homeland Security, was ordered deported back to her home country by a Texas judge on Tuesday.
Tracey attended the hearing over the phone from ICE’s processing center in Laredo, Texas, where she was recently transferred.
During the hearing on Tuesday, she pleaded guilty to one count of misdemeanor simple assault in exchange for prosecutors dropping most of her initial, more serious charges.
Those initial charges included endangering the welfare of a child, simple assault, harassment and obstruction, according to court records.
Tracey received the charges after confronting a group of teenagers who were wearing 'patriotic colored' clothes, which were reportedly emblazoned with 'Trump' and 'ICE', before she slapped one of the teens.
'The notoriety and publicity of this matter has indicated that they’re proud of their country, love their country, they have core values and refer to the history of their family,' the judge added.
The victim and her family 'look forward to justice being served, and they thank all the agencies involved,' Ryan concluded.
