AFAK Vai only use the Axe for effects. That's what he says in interview. Don't know why perhaps not enough $$$ involved. ;)

to my knowledge only a handful of pro endorsees use the full capability for their live rigs, the ones that spring to mind are Meshuggah and Periphery which are both very modern metal tones

This just makes me chuckle a bit." Close minded" coming from guys who won't give the axe fx a chance.... Sorry, but Im open to everything and have owned 15-20 tubers and the axe fx II has been a very useful tool for me and one of my favorite purchases thus far. And I shouldn't have to point out that every forum has it's share of gear snobs, not just the fractal forum

There typical exists a few people on each board who "run" the show. Opinionated, loud, and aggressive. Typically good people in person but online they can really run people over. The rest of the people tend to become sheep either through buying the BS or just by not speaking out.

This kind of shit is why I will never buy an axe.

I would agree with this, but then there's the fact that I'll probably never have enough money anyway....

Dweezil
Devin Townsend
Tosin and Javier
Stef Carpenter

It makes a difference to me when I like the music of the person using the device. Albeit I dig some Meshuggah and Periphery, I don't dig 'em nearly as much as the above 4 acts. SO this means something to me.

Furthermore, FW11 dropped out of the blue yesterday in beta format. NO idea as to what this FW is all about - but will await the polished version of it before trying it on. I will say, there's some sick advancements with this lil' black box. As to the omnipotence and holier than thou attitude on the forum? It's easy - when's the last time a rocker was well received at a chess club? When's the last time leather jackets, studs, and pierced lips were du rigeur at a World of Warcraft conference?

They nerd out over there. And since nerds don't often get laid, they're a bit more temperamental than those who do.

Good thing I didn't say 6L6 or I would have had a price on my head.
Hear is what I have to say to the close minded bastards.....

There's alot of Axe talk on here. I personally have hear amazing metal tones come out of that thing and would love to try one.

However I have also heard the Kemper produce more accurate sounds.

I'd like to try them both, but knowing the owner is a complete douchebag (this is not the first time something like this has happened) I would probably give my money to the Kemper company.

At the very most buy a used axe.

It is not the first time in history German knowledge and technology is copied.
Buy the original I would say! It is even cheaper then the copy :-)

Must be more to it. Cliff is a friend of mine, he regularly hangs at my shop or we go to classic car shows together. He's not sensitive at all and rarely bothers about this sort of thing. He'll I call it a pair of fake titties to his face. He doesn't care. In actual fact he's a pretty damn incredible Engineer who knows more about tube amps than most builders. His own collection of tube amps is pretty impressive. I get to repair the ones that blow up in the the process.
As for the forum, not my fave place, there is a bunch of cool aid drinkers on there. But not all.

I have never & will never make a decision on a gear purchase because of the personality of the owner or company perception.

If I dig something I will buy it. I will never understand people who get their panties in a bunch & refuse to buy something they want because someone or some company annoys them....

It, like all new versions, fixed what the previous version lacked whether one knew it was lacking or not....

First off, you don't always know what you are missing till you have something to contrast it with in context. A new firmware with major modeling changes can often be better whether or not a specific 'lack' was ever noted before in any way----Scott Peterson

Just remember, v11, like others before it, will be like this...

That's just a red man straw herring. :D

That was really all there was to it. I don't post alot on that forum. Mainly go to check out what is new.
I have spoken to Cliff on a number of occasions and a few other in the shop. They all seemed like real down to earth people.
The problem is that forum and the moderators. I'm sure it was an over zealous moderator trying to protect Cliff from getting upset.
Like he needs protecting. I'm sure he would have replied to that fact if he had a problem with me.

Really, If I am coming to a decision as to a final purchase this may be the only thing that differs in the equation. To say never is quite a leap for me. John Suhr is great in many ways, and from a support and ability to assist I would choose his products over others for that reason only, as there are many that are close overall to my needs.

I am guessing you own an Axe FX, I have owned 2 in the past 4 years. Cool piece of kit, they are just like anything a tool to make music.

To the original poster no loss, if that got you banned somebody over there needs to get laid. Cliff may not have known about it, or may have been the one to do it. Who cares, for me just one more reason to never again associate with their forum or product.
