Needs a power supply huh?

Yeah looks like it... I may have to leave work.. think i'm coming down with something *cough cough*

Got mine at GC on Monday before work and didn't get a chance to try it until tonight (Tues 2am). Sounds awesome. 1st thoughts: Tons of gain (haven't check the trim pot setting). Have mine at noon and don't think that I need to go further. Focus knob can get crazy low end in a good way. Very amp like.

It seems that GC in Sherman Oaks, CA had them for a few days before I got mine.

Got mine yesterday. Very happy. Killer pedal. Running it into the plexi channel of a stock SmallBox.

1. External p/s needed? What's the voltage and current draw??
2. What's the design based off of Dave, JFETs acting like tubes??!?

Very cool Derek! I am thinking about getting one to use with my Plexi channel too. I already have a Maxon OD808, DOD 250 reissue and a Boss Waza Craft BD2 on my board so something would have to go. I usually set these pedals with the drive down and the level up and kick one in as boost with both Small Box channels when needed. They all have their own flavor.

Thanks! I agree, having a few drive pedals is kinda a must, so handy to add the right dash of something extra depending on what you're going for. A few days ago for fun I was trying to nail an Yngwie tone and my strat and SB got in the ballpark, but when I added the modded SD-1 to the mix (the other pedals I have were way off base lol) it was much closer.

You'd love the BE-OD with the SB. It's definitely a different gain flavor than the BE channel. I was semi concerned about this before I bought the pedal. I "think" you can hear that in clips, but in person it is instantly apparent. Whew LOL! Like I mentioned in another post, Dave's description of the SB being voiced slightly more vintage than the BE100 is accurate, and that is all the more clear now that I hear the BE-OD pedal in person (never played a BE100)...so adding the pedal is pretty sweet and NOT overkill or redundant if you're already a SB owner and on the fence. The BE-OD would be like adding a third channel to the amp...a modern HBE channel I reckon.

I've yet to try it as a boost. One tip, keep that bright switch on the SB in the middle/neutral position when using the pedal on the plexi channel! I had mine set to the right while recording a pure clean clip and when I hit the pedal, yikes, hated it...threw the switch back to the middle and ahhh yeah, magic.

Got to demo the pedal yesterday. Very nice. I A-B'ed it with a 2-channel (clean/dirty) Jose clone amp a friend had and actually I liked the pedal better than the dirty channel!! lol Lastly, yes, internal pedal gain pot was set mid-way and of course clockwise adds additional gain and distortion. I wanted to see if I can get more of a "boost" out of it, but even turning it all the way down, it was still dirty and breaking up. I'll keep playing with it more this weekend and thru many other amps. Maybe it should have been called the BE-DIST thou?!? Tone is very good thou and pedal is quiet with those dual JFET IC's! :)

I just got around to plugging mine into my rig to see how well it would work in my rig.

Oh dear lord......

I'm done. I couldn't get velcro on it fast enough.

What an amazing pedal. Really has the sound I was looking for. Great tone and the right amount of "chunk" in the bottom end.

Well done Friedman!!! You made me a keeper for sure.

Got one use it with my practice amp fender Princeton Reverb. Sounds fantastic

I ran mine direct into a Mesa 395 power amp. No preamp, just pedal straight into the 395. Holy Shit! If you have a 395, 2:90, or any similar tube power amp, you got to try this. Absolutely brutal and monstrous. To drive the 395 with the right amount of signal, you have to turn the volume knob of the BE-OD up to about 2 o'clock. Then tweak the rest of the knobs to taste. This pedal sounds great with my other clean channel amps(Tone King SkyKing and 64' SuperReverb) but damn, the 395 setup is nothing short of stunning. Highly recommended!!!!!!

Used it live for the first time last night.

Needs to be tweaked more to sound "right" in my rig and in my band setting, but that's to be expected.

Anybody getting some extra "hiss" when they use it live? If so, how do you compensate for it?

I had to pull the gain down to 9:00 and raise the volume. Maybe the added volume caused the hiss.

I use mine with the Internal trim down at 9:00 you still have plenty of gain but it does help the pedal be quieter, I used min at a gig last week and didn't even notice hiss.... just good tone!

Thanks! I didn't open up mine yet but I think it's time.

And I agree. Gain is not a problem for this pedal!

With the internal trim pot setted on 9 o'clock what kind of gain you can reach? Can you also have 80's hot rodded marshall but with less compression??
