Best Feeling, Most Punchy Amp?

Haven't tried nearly as many amps as most of the regulars here, but the Engl Fireball is at the top for me. I thought the old 60w one was super punchy, but the 100w has even more.

The soldano is good but you can make it mush... the Wizard will never mush.. ever, which is key to the big acdc tone. To me, acdc was always heavier than slayer, distortion does not equal heavy.. to me.

my two wizards, MCII and MC. Next is my Marshall 100w Super Tremelo, after that my Fuchs ODS.

gotta be a SLO for punch, no other can match it...

That's one amp that lot's of people like that did absolutely nothing for me. Go figure.

Hiwatts always did that for me. Sure, it's not high gain, but the terms of "punchy" and "feels good to play": a 50 or 100 watt Hiwatt are what I think of.

Damn, I can't believe I forgot Hiwatt! Yes indeed. Hiwatts and Reeves have the most amazing feel, and if you put an overdrive in front, nice and punchy. Even the 6 & 12 watters feel great to play.

As much as I don't want to reference my own gear, I'd have to say the Mark III Coliseum has the best punch/feel of all the amps I've played, but the deciding factor for me is the speakers. The V30s have the best feel when paired with the Coli, and I'll use C90s/EVs for the punch.

I also liked the Friedman BE/HBE and Wizards for punchiness.

Me either... I could never understand the love for it. To each is own...

I love the punch and tightness of my Splawn quickrod. Ultimately though the SLO has this punch an feel that is really something that's hard to describe. Cranked up its like your fingers are hard wired to the speaker. It's the ultimate lead amp that I've ever played

The first thing that came to mind as an SLO through 2 4x12's.

Slightly different but no less impactful was my old Mesa Triple Rectifier with new glass through three 4x12's. A little lower on the eq spectrum and while the SLO punches you in the gut the Triple Rec punches you in the sack. Good times.

Kinda shocked no one mentioned a Diezel VH4 for punch. To me, it's got a kick on it like a fucking mule.........

+1 though i could understand slaved maybe

Punch = vht deliverance or diezel herbert

Feel maybe cameron atomica or friedman SS or two rock opal

It seems the consensus is the SLO and the Wizard. I would love to try either one.
But for now Im loving the punch and feel of my XTC 20th.

Page, Townshend, Gilmour. Those are the 3 reasons why every guitar player should own a Hiwatt.

If I'm honest the first few hours with my first one I liked it, but it didn't wow me like I thought/expected it to. Then I found a recommended setting-Presence maxed, treble off or barely on, everything else at 4-7, and added a mid boost EQ pedal and it was unreal. Sounded like the best modded Marshall I'd ever heard..through a G12 65 cab.

I agree with this , It's the VH4 for me.
I like a modern feel , not so much into the traditional Marshall style bloom.
Out of all the Diezels the VH4 has the most punch.
It's explosive in its mid response, and like an on/off switch.
The Herbert also kicks huge but it's in the lows and sub bass.

Wizards do it in a different way - it's a cleaner less compressed , full spectrum kick.
Seems higher volume than the Diezels because of the lack of compression.
The Wizards also have a more classic feel , not so on/off.

Never had he chance to play an SLO.

Maybe it's just my definition of the words (or that I've never played most of these high $ amps) but 'feel' and 'punch' seem often to be one at the expense of the other. Some of the punchier amps I've played were harder to play because they were so dynamic and the best 'feel' amps often seem to have a lot of compression and are more forgiving. Am I way off here? Maybe I just need quality time with a Deizel or Wizard or real SLO (I have a clone) to see the light.

This is all about opinions and who's tried what.
Fun to read people opinions though. My opinion, FWIW, better iron will keep an amp more together at high volumes equaling the midrange punch. So that's why some of the boutique amps deliver the goods better I think, which is what most folks are listing.
Wizard is on my to try list, but not sure it's totally what I'm after for my style.

I forgot to give an honorable mention to Diezel also. Great punch from those for sure.

Best feeling? Hmmmm.... Likely my 20thA XTC. It's smooth and buttery to play.

Punchy? That's hard to pinpoint. Melt yer face kick you in the chest punchy would go to my Purple Mod TJ. Might as well get hit by a car on an opening chord in front of that thing. Otherwise "overall punchy" is my 20thA Shiva. Thing would put most better-known high gainers and boutiquers to shame in the balls-out department. Serious bit of kit that head.
