you see, and I really like that song, it makes me happy
Man............what a GREAT PICTURE!!!mentoneman":3oi5sxu1 said:VHI changed the rock world forever
put on "i'm the one" right now, and it's as fresh and larger than life as it was in 1978.
"feel your love" is funky and full of swing and attitude. you can easily picture ed, dave, and mike standing toes hanging off the front of the stage attacking the song with joyfully arrogant energy while alex delivered the infectious tasty backbone.
eddie's tone was so alive and three dimensional...a fire that kept growing hotter with endless well of fuel.
and to have his tone, chops, and musical vision so fully realized right out of the gate on his debut album when he was 23 years old defines why he became a worldwide legend.

I'm sure some will point you to the whole original tracks but this is a nice sample.
Little more back story...Gene had gone to see George Lynch's band "The Boyz" in hope's of signing them etc... Instead he saw the VH boys open up and that was that. Gene signed them up...paid for the recordings, told them if he couln't get them a deal he'd let them out of the contract which he did, also flew them to New York to audition for Kiss's manager who was not interested. In the end Gene couldn't really help them out and I'd say since Kiss were in high gear probably didn't have the time to put much more into it...I would say that what help he gave them raised they're profile within the industry as they would be signed a year later.
Also Eddie and Alex played on Gene's demos for the Love Gun album and in fact Ace's solo to Christine Sixteen is note for note EVH.

my old hs girlfriend's family was friends with the roth family.
i get a "guess what i did this weekend?' call from her one day, bragging about the fact that she and her family hung out with the whole band around their hotel pool all day, talking about road stories while they were on Oahu vacationing after a world tour. i almost broke up with her that second.![]()
