ANYTHING Van Halen records sounds better than ANYTHING recorded these days. Well, almost. As long as Dave is singing.

but it's amazing how little content was on their albums back then.

they used to put out a new release almost every year followed by a tour back then compared to 4-7 years that most bands do now. In 7 years, they put out more releases than they did with Haggage, no?

Don't forget that a VH record of 35 minutes had a cover song or 2 taking up some of that space. All they needed for a VH record was 4 or 5 original songs mixed in with a cover, an Eddie solo spot, and a whole lotta AH HAH's and OH YEAH's from Roth.

Who cares what the albums consisted of,
the time limit of the recordings, cover tunes,
EVH soloing etc....
VH is classic Kick Ass Rock N Roll, no matter
how you slice it with all the AH HAH's and OH YEAH's.
The AH HAH's and OH YEAH's are an essential part of VH Music
and I love 'Em.

I was backing up my VH collection and I can fit all of the DLR material on just 3 CD's.
A VH greatest hits collection that was a double disc would fit every song if you leave off the covers they didn't write.
Wimpy ass bandits....you call 32 minutes an album?!!!
Every album had 22 minutes of new material...8 minutes of covers...and 2 minutes of YEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAA! But it was great!

but saw the Eat 'em and Smile tour with Dave.

Eat 'Em & Smile was a GREAT show, aside from Billy (let's do many hammer-ons and tricks to make the bass look harder to play than it really is) Sheehan, Skyscraper and beyond started suffering progressively.

There was just GREAT ENERGY at that show. Tesla opened for Dave and the boys. They threw down hard as well. Pretty unknown at the time.
Skyscraper.....it was ok. Had the cassette if I remember correct. That was so damn long ago.

I like this tune, A Little Ain't Enough. A better tone than Vai ever used I don't know what the rest of the album sounds like though. And Dave is pretty hysterical in this video Love those leg kicks during the solo.
