Ever try a Maxon OD808set as a clean boost. I love it and tried Ibanez 808s,ts9,OCD, Deadhorse, and out of those I love it.

I Have tried the Maxon 808. i sold it and i currently own a SD-1 and a maxon OD-9 and i also own an original TC Distortion/Booster.

Another vote for the OCD (Version 4). I use mine as an overdive though. The TIMMY is a great "boost" pedal as well. I use both for different flavors....also to enhance CLEAN tonesl!

For boosting I did not care for the OCD. Th eMaxon is good but gives the typical mid hump of a tubescreamer. You might want to look at an ARC Effects Klone v2 or a Monsterpiece Stud. Great to add a little gain and fatten the tone up.

I guess we all see things differently.. I also didn't care for the OCD v4 as a boost. I found it sounded ok but it was noisier than a standard tubescreamer type pedal and i had to have it on low peak because the highs really cut. Tons of crunch. I mean I def. "liked" it but when i brought it home and compared it to the used 50$ ZW-44, the OCD went packing. The ZW-44 just does the job just as well and not as harsh in the highs. I also can recommend the MXR GT-OD. Green Rhino gets tons of great reviews. If you need some gain, go green rhino. KoKo if you just need that tad more from what I've heard anyway..

I personally like the OCD for boosting more that Tubscreamer type pedals. The OCD sounds warmer, fatter and more dynamic. TS pedals sound stiff and cold in comparision.

But you probably won't use the OCD the way TS and derivates are used as boosts these days; full level, minimum gain, just to tighten the low end and get a kick in the upper midrange. That's what I meant.

i don't want to lose low end just add more gain/girth and boost the tone that is already there.

If that's what you want you need to go with Creation Audio Labs' MK.4.23. It's a clean boost and does exactly what it's supposed to. Absolutely transparent and you have +24dB of boost.

I never found a clean boost aside from the Rocket Copper that I liked for boosting to add a little gain and tightness. I just find an OD type pedal does it best for me. Try the ARC or Stud. They are more aggressive than the Klon from what I can tell. They add a little coloration but nothing like a TS type. They fatten your tone much more that the TS's I have tried. They are much more musical to my ears and have better feel.

Koko Boost all the way for all applications as a clean boost. I had the Rocket Fuel and it is great for lower to medium gain amps IMO. Great pedal though.

Koko all the way too here...any OD type pedal will add some gain and or extra mids...Koko just adds volume and a bit of tightening overall.
The old Rockett copper boost is a good one too...very expensive if you can even find one now...don't get the lemon aid...not the same.

Sorry for highjacking the thread, does any one have tried the koko boost with a 6505+?

+1 for Koko.
2 boosts in one, and there's some mojo in the the mid boost side that works so well with crunch and lead channels.

I was wondering who would notice that hell froze over.....

Very sparingly though

All bullshitting aside, this is the mother of all boost pedals. I just like what it does and it is totally quiet in front of gain. Like the original, these are getting hard to come by and have doubled in price by scalpers.

I see lots of OCD's in the rigs that come thru pdx, and I like the way the mids on my Strat evenout...
