Bought a modded Marshall - some weird stuff inside...

I made a clip of the lower gain side of things with some delay in the loop. Sorry, I know the video quality is lacking...but it will show the contrast from the higher gain clip. The amp is out of the head shell, I was rolling pre tubes. And actually came up with a better set after this video. I put a NOS Mullard in V1, Amperex in V2, current production EHX in the loop and a long plate GE in the PI. I’m not a huge NOS tube advocate but they do sound better in this one.

At 00:12 you can hear how it cleans up with a light pick attack. I didn’t notice that until watching the video.

Amazing.

Both clips are really good...but That low gain clip is out of this world. And that was a phone mic....incredible.

What guitar and pickups were you using in the second clip.

Thanks, I appreciate that.

It’s my #1, 2013 R9 with full Historic Makeovers package. I used it in both clips actually. Throbak SLE-101 plus pickups, 8.4k on the bridge. They are the best pickups I’ve ever used. I have 3 Les Pauls with the same set.

Haha, they are long gone now. Replaced them a few weeks ago with some new stuff.

Are they the Elan metalhead noisegate pucks? M H metalhead?

Those are a bit different, they have the "puck" that is made out of epoxy, where Elan hid his mod and noise gate circuitry. These are not covered in epoxy from what I can see. You should be able to measure most of the components. I almost bought a MH modded Marshall years back on ebay, the seller said he didn't know who did the mod, and it was a cheap BIN of like 750....I researched the "puck" and decided to buy it but someone beat me to it. I know Mr Fortin has a few of those as well as original Joses.

Geeze, can't you guys recognize a flux capacitor when you see one :D

Hearing that clip, I never knew they could sound so good!

The hardest part is finding speakers that can handle 1.21 gigawatts.
