I don't listen to Smash's words ....... I just stare at his Peks ...... and wish they were mine .....Yup it is Baltic Birch Pine same as in Fender amps but SmashMouth here ridiculed the EVH cabs just the same just two weeks ago.....
Saying Pine is only for clean amps and not for high gain... But EVH cabs use it too..... Talk about shameless douchebagery

Haven't tried HESU but can't go wrong with a Friedman....
At least you know you actually have 100 watts there and it's 2 V30s mixed with 2 Greenbacks...... So you get the modern and vintage feel in one and the necessary minimum power handling too at the least
I thought you said it would only be 80 watts? 4 x 20?

The Friedman uses 25 Watt Version Greenbacks not the Heritage/EVH 20 watt speakers.
Its mixed with V30s and by default the max power handling is 25 watts when paired with the Greenbacks so you get a total 100 watts of power handling and not 170 watts you'd figure by simply adding all the wattages. Its tricky but yeah. In a sense it's a better suited cab for a 100 watt amp than the EVH Cab given the power handling of the speakers and the bigger magnets in the V30s too mixed with the Greenbacks.
Its little details like that sometimes we tend to overlook or take for granted it or didn't know about that make a difference and have an impact on the tone aside from safety as you're getting lower headroom too.

I've never owned that cab so I'll concede if I'm wrong and exit the thread. The spec sheets for the G12M Greenback and EVH Greenback look exactly the same to me.
So what you are saying is that Celestion and Edward decided it would be fun, to take a modern G12M Greenback that is rated at 25 watts, and make a different version for EVH that is only 20 watts even though the specs are the same otherwise. Then, EVH can pair the 4x12 80w cabinet with their flagship 100w amp head? For more speaker distortion perhaps? Maybe they figured people would blow up their EVH Greenbacks and that would increase sales because people voided their warranty? I'm confused.

I've got 4 of them at home ... and plenty of test equipment... scope ... multimeter ... etc ....
I do know their actual Ohm rating ...12 which is 4 Ohms under 16 ....

Griff the trouble here is people mistake the RI 25 Watt Version with these versions EVH/Heritage versions.... So that kind of brings confusion to some.
They aren't even the same db sensitivity and they are completely different speakers.

No they didn't make a mistake and well the speakers are 20 watts per Celestions website and PDF
This is the speaker 311 linked to... The Chinese 25 RI Watt Version.
It isn't the 20 watt version EVH/Heritage Greenback. You can even see the label says 25 watts and it's even rated at a different db sensitivity at 98 vs 96 with the EVH and Heritage Greenbacks.
They aren't even the same speaker bro......
This is the Heritage/EVH UK version. See the difference nvm they are different db sensitivity too.

Walker BBQ in Arab was one of them. The Other was Gibsons in Huntsville. I'd have to look up the rest as it's been years since i even talked to most of my Alabama family after my Mom passed away in 2020. My Uncle Charles used to own/Run the Arab saddle club.
