Found a new clip... pretty convincing for that tone. Def close enough and cheaper than a mod.

I think so.. looks like one is for sale already in the classifieds lol... the top end might be a deal breaker for some people I imagine.

Shit, I didn’t realize that had a Drive knob on it. I wish the V2 had that as well. I think the Caswell might be a bit too bright for me but I’m pretty certain at this point that a V2 in a JCM800 is my dream tone.

I keep mine in my Plexi50 all the time but with the Gain/Bass switches turned off, into the Normal channel, volume on 4, there’s a little extra compression going on that makes it worth keeping in there even if not utilizing the higher gain. Fortunately the EQ works for both volume settings so the only thing I have to do to go higher is hit the switch and put the volume knob on 8.

The tone I’m getting with the Friedman BE-OD Deluxe is pretty damn close to what the amp sounds like when using the Hot Mod, feels quite different but neither are better/worse to play, just different, I just get more clean/edge of breakup tones by using the BE-OD rather than keeping the Hot Mod switched on.

I actually don’t even know what the Bass knob sounds like turned on, I figure I’m turning the bass almost off anyway, but I should check out exactly what it’s doing.

The Caswell mod has two switches that help tame the brightness but yes that is the whole point of that mod as the already have two others. I love the scary, have it in my 82 JCM800.
