Yeah it's gonna be insane. Just figured how to run a direct signal out of protools to the camcorder. Did some experiments. Gonna be sweet.

James what Splawn amps are you gonna have there ?
I think you will find Scott Splawns amps are gonna hang with about every thing there. Just a difference of flavor.
In the end this whole thread needs a touch of salt,
and a reminder that most amps are all pretty decent in their own way.
To each his own.
I know when you get through tracking these amps it should help the Argument,
not add to it. Can't wait!

according to Mark, Doug's amp has 4 gain stages
maybe the loop is hybrid in some amps he did
if it's a Jose style loop, then it's passive (no buffer or regain stage)

It's 4 stages with no added tubes, no cathode follower either. That's why there's no extra tubes needed

Hey guys, first post here at Rig Talk.. have been following this discussion for a while and thought it was interesting so I signed up. How are the "official" recorded clips coming along? Surely someone with enough $$ to buy all these amps has 100$ to spend on a sm57 and audio interface to record some proper clips? I'd also love to hear this amp in stock plexi mode as it is supposed to do that tone well as well.

On a side note, I also thought that Aldrich had his amps tweaked with an additional tube gain stage.. if not, is he getting more grind from those Marshalls by having something similar to what is in the Chupa done to his amps? That plus his new boost pedal + a shitload of gain..

The Suhr and Golub modded Marshalls that Aldrich uses, have an extra tube stage added, so they're 4 stages + Cathode Follower.

The Cameron Aldrich mod has 4 stages, but no cathode follower so it doesn't require the extra tube. The Cathode Follower circuit is removed and the 4th gainstage takes it's place. That's all
