I have also owned both. You wont go wrong with either one, but they are very different feeling and playing guitars from each other imo.

I've been down this road as well and sah5150 is spot on. Just go play everything you can.

I have owned 4 Charvels (one custom shop) and Suhr, Andersons etc and my fav by far is my $900.00 Charvel.
Maple neck, 1 Hum, Floyd and Black matte finish. It plays so well and sounds great. I saw it in the store for a few months and started playing it unplugged. Other customers walking around said "damn, that thing sounds great or Wow, it really has some Chime". It felt right so I bought it. Love it. Sold the other Charvels (they were great) but I always picked this one up. Just the right neck thickness, chime etc. It could use some minor fret work but it's great.

Bottom line, you could play 6 guitars from each builder and you might find 1 or 2 that really work for you. The rest might still be great...but it's such a personable thing.

Happy hunting.

P.S. I still want to try out a Luxxtone :D ...One day..

So got my first Suhr today and just spent an hour playing it through a sweet Top Hat Club Royale with 2x12's and it's a great axe. Really well built and a truly beautiful instrument. So I get done and pull my USA Slime Green (non-custom) Charvel off the wall to compare and damned if the Charvel didn't compare really favorably. The Suhr has a C shaped neck and of course the Charvel is fatter, flatter and wider but I really have to say the Charvel plays every bit as well. The tone was diff of course as they have different pups and diff body woods I believe. But hell the Charvel is like a $900 guitar. The Suhr is much more detail oriented and truly a work of art. Anyway if money means nothing and you want boutique, get the Suhr. If you want a sweet playing cost effective super strat get the Charvel. Oh yeah and I love the SS frets so the Suhr has a leg up there. Play them all and one will sing to you. Now I have to go try one of my older USA RG Ibby's against the Suhr. Might be close. Peace.

I liked my Suhr more than any ibanez ive had and ive owned multiple Jcustoms, 7620s, etc...

The quality is just INSANE on the Suhrs!!!! :D Congrats on your new suhr btw ibenhad
