Unfortunately breeding animals is considered as "easy business" for some unethical people. I have heard terrible horror stories from various cases in which the animals are bred in environment lacking all of the daily necessities for those poor animals.

Breeding with lines that have genetical problems (or are untested) should be prohibited, but is practically imposssible to control. Unfortunately it is expensive and such breeding does happen. Very often in this kind of situations it is also found that the lines are inbred which also an action that should be stricktly avoided by a proper breeder. Advice to all who are planning for a cat (or dog), ask for the papers and test results. Maybe the kitten or puppy does not have the papers (yet), but its parents do need to have. Usually these tested and "selected" animals tend to be more expensive in comparison to untested without proper papers, but is this really a question of money as such?

Please do a favour to all and inform the local animal protection official about this.

...and at least in Finland the minimum assignment age for kitten is 12 weeks - AFAIK this also applies internationally. The kitten should also have full vaccination (first shot + a boost shot) before assignment. If a kitten weights less less than 1kg, it shall not be assigned to new home. Usually our kittens weight approximately 2kg ("boys" a bit more) when they leave to new homes.

P.S. I hope your amp still sounds the same and not only "blues".
