considering a trade prs for suhr yea or nay

If you really like the PRS, don't do it. Find another way to buy a used Suhr. Nothing worse than getting rid of a guitar for GAS reasons. Different if you can try the guitar and if you bond....then make the trade.

didnt think much about trading it until i was asked, now im second guessing myself as to weather or not i like it because it says prs or because the way it plays and sounds, at times it feels planky and lifeless, then other times it feels great although a bit bright acoustically, i see so many guys playing the suhr and singing their praises, but im with ventura ,its such a personal thing, some might not be to picky about 1-5/8 nuts and 1-11/16 but to me the difference is huge ,and yea v my buddies early black beauty ,same thing buuuuttter , ah it was sweet

Go with the Suhr! I have had 2 PRS Custom 24's. While they looked amazing, I could never get on with the way the neck felt or how the guitar sounded. They always seem a but lifeless to me.
Same here.

Maybe this was already covered, but all except the pro series are custom orders so the chances of playing a Suhr that sounds and plays like another Suhr aren't very high. The standard has many neck profiles and fretboard raduis' available, wood choices and pickups are all a factor in sound. So without trying it, no matter the attention to detail it may not be right for you.

Picking the "right" guitar for you is like finding the right woman. Actually, picking the shape of the earlier instruments (violins etc, are all based on the shape of a woman for a reason. but shape and feel are two very different things. Everyone that I've given permission to play my Suhr to has told me its an amazing instrument. I haven't played an anderson, but I've played the shit out of my Suhr Modern and its hands down the best instrument that I've played short of the Strat that I played in the 70's at Michigan State when I was a much younger and unknowing person. That Strat was nothing short of magic, and I wish I could find a guitar of the same caliber, not certain one exists though. but I think that John Suhr is onto something with the gift and talents he has, and yet within a price range that most of us can afford, you all owe it to yourself to try something truly amazing . Shared with no vested interest...

Same here. Big Suhr Modern fan!

I wouldn't trade my PRS (Cu22) for a Suhr.....I think all 3 of the Suhrs I've owned played a little better/easier than the PRS...but the sound/tone of the PRS is superior in almost every way...there, I said it..and I don't care if it hurts the sale of my Modern ;-)

I owned a Suhr LE'08, S3 and the current Copper M2.

...now if I'd taken the time to change the pickups in the LE...then *maybe* it would've been closer but as everyone said the Aldrich are the the bees nips...well.

I much prefer the SSV and SSH+ over the Aldrich. They are similar but I find this combo to be much more expressive. The wood combo on the Suhr is very key. I and a few others much preferred the mahogony and maple top over the basswood. The mahogony neck is very stable. My guitar stays in tune for a long time.

I run Elixr 10s and play my Modern in 50 to 90 degree days and it never goes out of tune unless I break a string.

I do wipe it down after I play and keep it in its case when am not playing it.

I'm with you man, that Modern you have is the best feeling, and playing guitar I've ever played. That neck shape is just perfect IMO and it's fast. I've been gassing for one ever since then

Thanks Nate, maybe am giving Suhr too much credit and just lucked out and got a really good one? I try to respect everyone's opinion, you know that about me. I keep reflecting on that Stradivarius I played as a kid back in 76, dumber than shit, not realizing I was given an opportunity to play something so perfect, an instrument designed primarily to define our mortal limitations.

Lets not wait too long to jam again, Spring just seems like a really long time away.

just curious ,what neck shape do you have on your suhr modern ?

It feels just a little narrow compared to my other guitars...I mean it's a barely perceptible difference but you definately notice it.

:D the only way to know for sure, is to trade for one, im going to go thru the offers i got and just go for it  , whats the worse can happen ,i dont like it ,so i try another one.. i never believed in having 10 or 20 guitars ,no offense to those that do.. i just want one guitar that i cant wait to pick up every day(,and my lp on the stand and im good,
