Any updates? I'd love to hear more from people who have done the gauntlet of boutique modded Marshall amps. This amp and the Suhr PT100SE are on my short list of must try.

Seriously love mine! I've had it for over a month now and can't get over how every little dial of the knob can just change the most minute nuance of the tone. . . Never had an amp like it - thought I had what I needed in a great little clean platform and pedal board, but this amp brings into perspective what a true tube amp can be capable of. Tried going to back to my clean platform to A/B today, and the other amp was just mushy and loose compared to the tonal maturity the G3 can deliver
You're in for a real treat!

Sweet!I'm really looking forward to it! DO you prefer it with or without the diodes engaged? It seems to be an amp that is capable of being very bright and cutting, which I like. It sounds like a fast, quick responding amp and very tight, is that so? How do you like the bright switch, EQ, and resonance set? What tones do you go for? Thanks for sharing your experience!
My fault, I sold it in back in December, and if I remember correctly, it did have a depth control. I do know that it was a 2015 G3, so it must have. Even with the depth control, I found that it lacked low end at high volume. I wasn't expecting earth rumbling lows, but IMO it could use more to retain fullness at high volumes. My Friedman KS JMP was much fuller with more low end at high volumes in comparison without a depth/resonance control.bbaug14":18vfz8ge said:Uh... It has a Depth control on the latest G3. You must have played an older one.

I don't really engage the diodes - I keep it pretty vintage voiced, which has a real woody tone. I usually have everything set to the opposite of bright for a bedroom setting to give a bit more low end, which is pretty tight. Tonally, I talked to Bill about how to properly dial it in, and he told me to turn the treble and presence down all the way, and then gradually build the tone from there by dialing them both in. Worked unbelievably well, you really see how everything dial setting affects the tone in some way. It gives you a better respect for almost how three dimensional the tone is, and I can't stress how helpful that advice was.
I do tend to cut the mids a bit, and set the bass pretty high since it's not really a big low output amp to begin with.
The clean channel is so colorful, I run quite a few FX8 presets thru it. . .
I know my amp was early to mid 2015 and Bill has a few changes he has made to give a little bit more low end, but I won't have time to send it back for a workup until late April, and I honestly don't want to send it back because I'm having so much fun with it - lol.
Really can't wait to hear your thoughts on the amp, just a real joy to play - and for two channels of heaven like that for the price, you just can't beat it.

This video is the approach I would be thinking for this option. Without having ever heard a Landry in person, I am making the assumption that the clean channel is similar to this clean before the pedal is hit. The amp in the video is 6L6 based so it may have a little fuller or broader bottom end than the standard clean channel on the G3.

That seems like it may give the most flexibility from straight on fendery clean palate on up thru plenty of gain on the boosted drive channel.
Or
Try the "dirty" clean channel that still sounds like it retains a pure clean with the gain down (although not sure how much headroom is there on the dirty clean version when upping the volume. Could break up earlier or right off the bat versus the purer standard clean)
The dirty clean channel might be the same result versus going the standard clean with pedal route.
Some thoughts I had on it while working thru the research on this amp.

It had enough at low to low/mid volumes, but when turned up toward band volumes, the bottom end couldn't keep up with the volume, making the amp sound smallish and less full. The core tone is amazing, but it could definitely use a resonance control.

I just updated my G3 made in Oct 2015 to the latest revision. It's a very simple change that adds a lot of low end but stays tight. It's a very substantial change. With this change it compares to the Wizard MC2 i've had in bottom and punch. Check it out!

Sweet! I'm hoping mine will be shipping to me by the end of this week! What speakers have you used and do you prefer with your G3? Is it still good at lower volumes after the update?

Hey! I'm using a Dr Z Zbest cab with a V30 and a G12H30. That cab sounds awesome with every amp i've tried it with. Yes, the master works awesome before and after the update. I've had a lot of boutique M style amps and the G3 is special in my opinion.
