It had enough at low to low/mid volumes, but when turned up toward band volumes, the bottom end couldn't keep up with the volume, making the amp sound smallish and less full. The core tone is amazing, but it could definitely use a resonance control.
I just updated my G3 made in Oct 2015 to the latest revision. It's a very simple change that adds a lot of low end but stays tight. It's a very substantial change. With this change it compares to the Wizard MC2 i've had in bottom and punch. Check it out!
Sweet! I'm hoping mine will be shipping to me by the end of this week! What speakers have you used and do you prefer with your G3? Is it still good at lower volumes after the update?
Hey! I'm using a Dr Z Zbest cab with a V30 and a G12H30. That cab sounds awesome with every amp i've tried it with. Yes, the master works awesome before and after the update. I've had a lot of boutique M style amps and the G3 is special in my opinion.
Awesome! Thanks for the input! I cannot freaking wait to get my G3! I'm gonna try it with my Scumback M75-PVC 65 watts, Scumback BM75 65 watts, Made in UK greenback reissues from the 1990''s, Hellatone 30's, and WGS retro 30s.
I've tried mine with my Z-best, an EVH 412 with the EVH GB's, and another 212 i have with WGS veteran and invader. Honestly, the amp sounds awesome with any cab i plug it in to. The EQ is very sensitive, and small turns make quite a difference. But that being said, it's not like the Rivera Bonehead i had where there's such a broad range that it's really easy to make it sound terrible. I'm interested to hear your thoughts on it when you get it!
