Marshall never released a "modded" Marshall.

Unless you consider production stuff like YJM/AFD "modded".

Yes.. I'm aware of that...

I have the LS100 G3. Love the amp, great clean, dials in brown. Great Master Volume on it. No need for an attenuator in my view.

Awesome! I went for the clean channel that breaks up some and the second master volume "rhythm master" option. Do you mind sharing how you are running it? I'll be running mine straight into a 4x12 and also in my stereo and W/D/W rigs. My speakers are all greenback or greenback clones, creambacks, scumbacks, etc. How do you like the EQ settings, etc? To me the voicing of the G3 sounds like a really good something between a hot rodded plexi and a hot rodded JCM 800. Thanks!

I run into 2 types of cabs, 4x12 with greenbacks, and a wizard cab with green backs and heritage 30's. Will be changing out my old greenbacks in a few weeks with Scumback M75 and J75's. Effects in in the loop...neunaber wet and hardwire DL8. EQ seems good to me as I have quite a few quitar types, modern strat's, les pauls, and suhr's. Might sound interesting, but sometimes I will use the clean to drive from an elaborate pedal board I drive out front for different types of sounds to dial in Hendrix, Johnson, Gilmore etc.

Eventually I will have a more elaborate W/D/W setup but still working on it.

Cool. Thanks for the input. I hope you enjoy the Scumbacks. I have the BM75s and M75-PVCs all in 65 watt 16 ohms and love them! I am surprised at how much people say they love the clean channel on the Landry amps. I spend most of my time on the dirty channel on my amps and back the guitar volume of for a dirty(ish) clean, but I'm looking forward to trying the clean on the Landry. I opted for his clean channel that breaks up a little instead of the completely clean.

Gonna give Bill another shout out here for being a really great guy and super easy to talk with about all things amp and tone. I had a G3 for about a year and really enjoyed the amp. I sold it to fund the purchase of a Mark 2C+ Colliseum that I was wanting, but I must say it was a wonderful amp, and yes, the clean tones were very good for a multi channel amp. After you get your amp, treat yourself to a look under the hood. Absolutely beautiful PTP hand wired layout man. I also will add that his new M series videos sound REALLY good. What a great player too.

Im also interested in the G3. Is it able to do heavier tones a la Alice in Chains, Tool, Chevelle etc? Doesnt need to do uber tight modern metal but heavier rock/ alternative metal?

Absolutely. It's got a ton of available gain and can be dialed in to get very aggressive. It will do that stuff all day long.

Here is what i chose over the landry g3.... Peters chimera hydra halo, Metroplex, mezzabarba, peters halo regulus gryphon, Bray 4550 deluxe... shur se 100 is on the way. and next purchase will be a homestead

Wow guys! This is all great to hear! I'm gassing for mine bad! I can't wait to get it! Everything you guys are saying makes it sound right up my alley. Yes, Landry does absolutely rip in his videos too. I think this G3 will fill in a really nice spot between my Bray and my BE-100. I think I'll have the "awesome modded Marshall better than Marshall did it" type of tones totally covered!

So you have a BE,Bray,SLO and a Landry incoming ?! I'd definitely say you've got the tones covered :2thumbsup:

So what's the verdict on your new G3?

If that was directed at me, I haven't received it yet. Bill is building it now.

Yep it was. I think you're going to love it. Can you discuss some the of the options you got? A G3 is on my wish list for 2016.

Yeah, I'm fortunate and thankful to have these amps and my other gear too. I have worked hard and saved hard for them. Now if I could just play worth a damn....

Sure. I just went with mostly the standard G3. I ordered the clean channel that can break up a little (I don't normally use the clean channel on amps much and when I do I like just a tiny bit of break up and edge to it). I didn't get the external bias points. I went with the second master knob that allows a volume boost if you want on the high gain switch, and instead of his most common color scheme of black tolex with bronze grill cloth on the front cover and white chicken heads and white piping I went with black tolex, black grill cloth, black piping, and black knobs. Basically I just blacked the damn thing out. lol.

I can't wait to get it! It sounds so awesome JCM800/hot rod plexi and tight and fast. I sort of makes me think of some of the Van Halen tones I love and Zakk Wylde's tones on No Rest for the Wicked on songs like Demon Alcohol. I love that tone!

The blackout G3 sounds great. The G3 is every great modded Marshall tone from the 80's. It's such a great amp.
