Actually as musicians I would think we would respect music copyright laws above and beyond the general consumer. I will wait for the release myself!!

Overall it isn't a great album but it certainly isn't bad either, frankly its definitely a step in the right direction.

Sums it up nicely

I assume that's directed at me since I posted the download link. I don't want this thread off-topic, but until the record companies start offering me their music in the format that *I* want (FLAC lossless digital download with NO FUCKING DRM!!!) then fuck 'em. I'll just go get what I want from some other outlet; free or not.

No it was not pointed at you directly. I mean I totally understand your angst against the record companies and all the bad that comes with the industry. It is just my opinion that ripping off the artist totally is not a solution to the problems you address above.

I like it. Its better than just "good". IMHO it's much better than anything they have released since Justice.

Who says that all people that download it dont buy if they like what they hear?

I'm not D/Ling it, but I did listen to All Nightmare Long and The Judas Kiss on youtube and thought that they were quite good and different.

i am downloading it only cause I'm a "met" fan and can't wait to hear it. But whether I like it or not is not going to sway the fact that I will be there when it is released and probably get the coffin box anyway. So I don't directly feel like I'm ripping the artist off seeing as I'm going to get the album anyway, this just cures my fix a bit sooner than expected.

 Wishful thinking my friend....songwriting, arrangement, production and guitar tone on Black album eats most of DM alive by quite a margin

I give DM 6/10..it rises above that for some songs...but overall, just a solid effort...it may grow on me, it may not...still looking forward to buying it and ripping to a format of my choice :D

If you purchase it after you download it then the point is moot. Let's not split hairs.

You would not be ripping off the artist then. And curing that fix is understandable LOL

Downloading doesn't hurt artists. It hurts the record companies. You don't need a record company's backing to be successful. Carry on.

This is a true statement if you download as a purchase. Otherwise you are quite incorrect.

I agree and lets not lump everyone together who downloads as thieves.

Point taken and I agree.

<rant>My issue is that there is a problem out there with the record companies and the artist has always been hurt because of the record companies lust for money. It just ticks me off when people think that they can screw the record companies by doing this. Or better yet it just seems to me like a way to justify the wrong they are doing in their minds. If you download a song and do not purchase it then you might as well go into Wal Mart and steal it off the shelf, it is the same thing. But you have cameras to deal with there. A wrong does not correct another wrong but it may make some feel good about it or maybe they just do not care about anything but what they want. </rant>

I do apologize ejecta for lumping everyone into one category. That was not my intention.

I agree 100% and think its a cop out myself. Yes record companies have screwed artists for years but that said no one forced those artists to take a shitty deal. There have been several artists that negotiated a very nice deals for themselves with labels and didnt get screwed in the least. Even at that thats no excuse to steal something. Yes thats a lame cop out. You are right there is no difference in taking it off the shelf and downloaded it. Actually, I think dowloading it before its released is wrong, and I guess in my mind I rectify that by buying it when its released. Whether that makes it ok or not I dont know. :D

I REALLY like this. It's a GREAT album. Much better than The Formation of Damnation, the years most comparable release. It's great stuff I reckon. The three released tracks may have been the weakest. It's catchy as hell too. The only thing I'd change is the guitar tone. It's not my thing, but it's certainly not a bad tone at all. I'd say it's AT LEAST a solid 8/10. And I'm saying that because the honeymoon period isn't over and tends to taint opinions a little.

Overall: :rawk:  :rawk:    :worship: :D

O.k. I've listened to it 4-5 times through, initially I was quite impressed, not so much now.... I'll agree with JKD, Black is MUCH better, I was quite impressed at first, but after more listens, I think its just ok at best..... I'd say 6/10

Just my opinion.
