Diesel tops $5 a gallon for the first time since 2022. Here's what it means for the economy.

Fuel prices matter to me because I'm looking at an increase of about $800 a month already. Try owning a diesel vehicle and a construction company.

I'm looking at paying a $6000 increase just in fuel for 8 months of work. What could you do with $6000?

I dont think Im much different than any blue collar business. I own a pickup truck and some tools. I own a Dodge Ram Ecodiesel. If i had a 2500/3500 diesel it'd be about $1200 per month.

90 cents per liter difference compared to last year. Notice how all the people who think its just fine aren't sending me $6000?

With the way you guys are talking I wonder if my cut-off saw consumes more gas than your cars.

Me too man. I'm running 3 trucks and 2 mowers. Gets pricey. Fuck Trump.

I can see lots of different pressures on a business like that. Sounds costly. I think you'll be okay but that hurts the pocketbook

I run lean and simple with one truck and a car. Lots of other tools for this or that. Loading up for work is:

Did you say fuck Obama when gas prices were even higher thanks to his policies ? You do remember him, on video, saying that gas should be $10/gallon I assume ?
I'm sure he justified it to himself for environmental and shift-to-green energy reasons.

Maybe it was different in Canada or New Zealand ? Gas prices I mean.
Gasoline prices during the Obama administration peaked in early 2012, with the national average for regular gasoline reaching roughly $3.90 to $4.00 per gallon.

Current average price:

$4.14 per gallon

That's the shit I had to do when I owned a construction company for 25 years. When Obamacare hit and the lead abatement bullshit hit I had to pretty much double my prices on replacement windows. Then of course insurance and taxes went up and consumer confidence plummeted as it always does when a dimocrat is in the white house.

And you'll notice he said their diesel prices are up $.90/liter. Meanwhile here in the promised land diesel is up about $.75/gallon.
As of early April 2026, U.S. retail diesel prices have surged to an average of roughly $5.38–$5.69 per gallon, driven by market instability from the U.S.-Iran conflict, marking a nearly 50% increase from early 2026 levels.

April 06, 2026 $5.64

January 5, 2026 $3.47
That's an increase of $2.17/gallon, in 3 months. All due to the decision of your.
chosen leader.

I agree with that but the war changed the price more than our thieving government. As the price of fuel goes up so does the taxes on it. Government is definitely winning over this.

People don't have much choice with fuel. Inelastic demand.

I know we have no shortage of fuel either. Scam.
Oddly, a bill was up for gas tax increase in Indiana after the war started and prices were already climbing. It passed. They can't be bothered to help their constituents.

Yet you don't blame the actual source of the increase...interesting.

You're twisting everything to your own narrative....that's a kind of sickness. Group chat is not for you maybe?
Diesel topping $5/gallon is 100% Trump's fault. He doesn't start a retarded war, diesel stays where it was in February. Nice and cheap. Now it'll be high for a good long time.

Are your electrical costs comparable?
Because we have hydro, my electricity rate hasn't changed much in the decade that I've been driving EVs. Still about .10 USD per kwh. My biggest battery is 82 kwh, so it costs $8.20 to go over 500 km. (300+ miles)
