Because we have hydro, my electricity rate hasn't changed much in the decade that I've been driving EVs. Still about .10 USD per kwh. My biggest battery is 82 kwh, so it costs $8.20 to go over 500 km. (300+ miles)
Thanks for that. Where are you at as far as maintenance costs?

Just winter tires and washer fluid. We took our oldest car in for a scheduled maintenance once in 9 years and the mechanic was like...errr...there's not really much to do here...

Gasoline prices during the Obama administration peaked in early 2012, with the national average for regular gasoline reaching roughly $3.90 to $4.00 per gallon.

Current average price:

$4.14 per gallon

Now let's adjust that 2012 number for inflation so we have an actual comparison:

$4.00/gallon adjusted for inflation = $5.77/gallon
Current Prices = 4.14/gallon

From the US bureau of labor statistics:

As of early April 2026, U.S. retail diesel prices have surged to an average of roughly $5.38–$5.69 per gallon, driven by market instability from the U.S.-Iran conflict, marking a nearly 50% increase from early 2026 levels.

April 06, 2026 $5.64

January 5, 2026 $3.47
That's an increase of $2.17/gallon, in 3 months. All due to the decision of your.
chosen leader.
You know how I know this is you twisting statistics by saying national average ? Because diesel here was about $4.25 prior to Iran. It’s $4.99 now. Which also proves what we all already know. The only thing it actually has to do with Iran is they can use it as an excuse to price gouge. So here you are laying blame for giving oil companies an excuse to price gouge, yet you personally believe it should be so expensive everyone is forced to go EV for environmental reasons.

Consistency indeed.

I'm using the official posted US average. Your local area may vary. 😂
