I would always just wait for a decent deal on a SLO over the Hot Rod series.
This vid is by a member here.I remember hearing that the EVH amps have similar architecture as far as circuit design.
Not sure that is true maybe someone can comment on that.
A simple boost takes care of that .. In fact a Horizon Effects Precision drive is perfect with the SLO as it solves the low end flub perfectly.Too loose in the lows for my tastes.

Three channels, a good loop and some other options features the SLO doesn't have. They do sound similar don't they. And the EVH is much easier to live with.
I feel bad for the newbies coming in asking about a Marshall AVT150...You know our attention span is fucked upI think why the SLO is mentioned is because the HR is going to give you similar vibes so essentially for the right price it might be a great score! We naturally default to comparing everything to a certain manufacturers flagship model..

Well kinda because it's the only Soldano that is unique. All the others just blend in with other brands, of which there are better choices. You know our attention span is fucked upI think why the SLO is mentioned is because the HR is going to give you similar vibes so essentially for the right price it might be a great score! Hey an AVT is super fun lmao grew up with a 100 & I miss that thing all the time.. In the boutique world like Soldano I don’t there’s as much of a gap as there are in the regular brands.. I can’t recall Mike designing a bad circuit. Marshalls do start here btw:I feel bad for the newbies coming in asking about a Marshall AVT150...
Hope you don't need a good effects loop. The HR's loop sucks.Dudes, I'm talking about the HR100+, you guys just assume I have SLO money lol
But if I don't buy it then someone else will own it. I cannot abide such treachery.I know the feeling. Actually just bought a Landry Lexi for the same reason: a good price for a rare amp. But I sold three other amps just before buying it. Awesome amp. It ended up having some issues, so I'm going to return it. But now I'm really interested in finding another Lexi, or another modded Plexi like a Morris, to replace it.
All that's to say, you already have some great amps. If I were you I'd get them out of storage and play them, or sell them and buy the Avenger. But don't just keep buying amps. As someone that owned 30+ amps at one point, I can say that it's better to own a few that you play often.
