Awesome Tony. It's a great feeling isn't it? I've been down to just one for a while now (but I admit I have a Voodoo modded Egnater Rebel on the way).

It is Pete.

Truth is, I've been chasing the same basic tones for years....I am all about thrashy style rythm playing....and no matter what amp(s) I had, I was trying to make them sound like this.

The most ridiculous part is I've owned a 2C+ 4 times before this :scared:

For the record, I love Traces work

I've been through this too but I still have 5 tube amps (2203-101B-50CL-Splawn QR-Mesa DC-5) around. I found I like the tone of a 6550 tubed JCM/JMP2203 with a Boss SD-1 in front. That was my basis for what I shoot for in any amp. If I'm happy tone wise I have little interest in new amps or wanting one as I'm covered right now and content with my amps although I need to get my 83 2203 re-capped so I can use it again. I admit I'm really curious on Kemper only for profiling my amps and the DI approach to recording at any hour of the day.

I have always been a minimalist with little to no effects thinking each piece of gear your signal runs through strips a hair of quality off of it. over the last couple of years my technique and ear are changing. I'm more into lower preamp gain and lower/vintage output pickups plugged straight in which allows for better dynamics on the pick hand. You can also go from clean to mean with harder picking and opening up the volume. I'm a post VH guy and all of my influences used old stuff and sounded great. While we have all of these technical advances in amps/pickups guitars what was used in the 60-80's worked well and about as low tech as you can get.

Hi my name is Supersonic and I'm an ampaholic, I'm also down to two amps.

CONGRATS!

I'm at 2 myself... but won't lie... been having thoughts of picking up something else.
Maybe after I check some stuff out at NAMM... :)

Only had 1 for the past few years. Up to 5 now.
Its horrible and I need help. :D
But asking you guys for help on cutting down on amps is like asking a 450 pound woman how she stays so slim.

Wait does it count if you lent one to a friend? I only have one in possession

I have owned multiple amps for pretty much as long as I could afford to. And when I say multiple, I mean 5 or 6 at any given time and up to 15 at one point.

After many years of amp whoring, I have come to the conclusion that I am a hot rodded Marshall and Mesa Mark series guy (though I do still love me some VHT tone, particularly the Green channel on the CL)

I am down to:

Mesa Mark IIC+ (Thank you psychodave!) and Henning Cherry Bomb (Thank you Steve for making a STELLAR amp!).

Have been using just these two amps for a couple months now and other than maybe getting another CL, I can't think of another amp I would like to own. Feels good after YEARS of the amp merry-go-round!
Bottle Rocket!!! :D

Steve

Hopefully you get back on the merry-go-round because otherwise RT Member Classifieds just lost a great buyer/seller. Just kidding!

I've never had the pleasure of playing through a Mark series amp, but have always enjoyed the tones I heard from the 2's and 3's.

Oh I remember your 2C+ history. Didn't your wife even give you a hard time about selling and buying that same amp?

Yes, I like Trace's work too. My Voodoo DSL has been my #1 (and sometimes "only") for 10 years now.

I bought my Engl Blackmore from you many years ago and I'm still loving it!

Yes she did.

When I brought this one home after I met up with Dave, she asked if I was keeping this one :poke:

I know you've been rocking that DSL for a while. It's awesome to find a home

Great amps! I think there is a lot of Mark Series vibe in the Blackmore.

Glad you are digging it!
